How can we influence this madness to end?

Going through my morning scrolling and came across this article:

www.theguardian.com/world/2021/mar/12/chinese-hotel-with-polar-bear-enclosure-opens-to-outrage

I don't know why, with all the cruelty that goes on in the world, that this in particular has knocked me sick.
I think its because its such obvious cruelty and I cannot belive anyone would think acceptable in this day and age.

China is so behind in any respect for nature, animals, wildlife etc.

Thing is, I keep seeing all this terrible cruelty from china and thinking, what can I do about it? It's always a resounding 'nothing'

China seems such a huge force, with so many of our daily items being produced and brought from China.

What is the answer? Has anyone got any ideas?

Before you throw stones at China, have you taken a look at what goes on in our dairy industry? Calves taken from their mothers, cows pumped with hormones so they make more milk?

Apologies, I should have added that I know the shortcomings here, and in no way do I think other countries are "perfect"

Clearly, and do all I can in my own life to "make a difference" - including eating a vegan diet etc.

Reading my post back, prephaps I have put too much emphasis on it being "only" China, genuinely I don't belive it to be finger pointing at one particular country-

My question is more, what could be done to tackle the problem of accepting obviously cruelty in other countries, on an individual level?
