Do you have a favourite Elvis Presley record, or a least favourite ?

Favourite - probably a tie between Always On My Mind and Suspicious Minds. It's just coincidence that they are both 'mind' songs. Least favourite is Surrender - it's too bleak and dramatic for my taste.

So hard to choose but I love the tempo and funk of “a little less conversation” and also “hound dog”. The only one I can think of I’m not that keen on is “In the ghetto”.

Erictheavocado · 12/03/2021 20:52

I love Elvis. Impossible to choose a favourite because there are so many to choose from, in so many different styles. Not many I don't like really, depends on my mood at the time.

His Latest Flame. Love it.

I love In the Ghetto! Find it really moving.

Snooks1971 · 12/03/2021 21:04

Sorry to derail....
I was born in 71 (no surprise from my username!) and a pretty vivid memory is of me and my Mum on the rug in our living room in front of the fire (we didn’t have central heating) and my Mum was really tearful because Elvis had died and it was on the telly. I was 6.

I had never seen my Mum so upset before and so it really stuck with me!

Sorry - back to the songs Smile

I can't listen to Always On My Mind without welling up. I'm such a sop.

Burning Love is lots of fun.

I just googled “a little less conversation” - I never realised it was from one of his films. Just wanted to share as the people dancing in the background made me 🤣🤣🤣. Wish I was at that party!

Are there any studio versions of The Wonder Of You and I Just Can't Help Believin' ? I have only ever heard live performances of these (both good).

Never been to Spain - something about the build up is so sexy and really energising to me Blush

Poke salad Annie always raises a smile too

I've never heard any
newmumfeb21 · 12/03/2021 21:27

Great thread!
Mine has to be You Asked Me To or Wonder of You.
Not keen on his cover of Unchained Melody.

Lionosmankini · 12/03/2021 21:29

Though I love so many of his songs, In the Ghetto is so moving.

WildRosie · 12/03/2021 21:33

I also like All Shook Up. Even Paul McCartney manages a credible version of it, much more uptempo and punchy.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 12/03/2021 21:35

Ah love Elvis, my favourite song is Suspicious Minds but there are so many great songs.
In the 70s it wasn't trendy to like him ( think white jumpsuits) and when he died in '77 my mates were quite dismayed at how upset I was. I think he was the most beautiful man ever born.

MrsT1405 · 12/03/2021 21:35

So many. Wonder of you is probably up there. But American Trilogy my favourite. Not a fan of his more mawkish stuff. Hopefully off to Gracelands in October!

Jellykat · 12/03/2021 21:37

Not a fan particularly, but i do like the live version of 'Are you lonesome tonight' where he cracks up Grin

MrsPatrickDempsey · 12/03/2021 21:40

I love If I Can Dream

Deedeedocket · 12/03/2021 21:43

I quite liked him when he was getting on the porky side Blush

EwwSprouts · 12/03/2021 21:43

Can't help falling in love - they put it on while DS was being delivered by c section when I said no thanks to something classical.

Least favourite another for Wooden Heart.

MondeoFan · 12/03/2021 21:46

Don't be Cruel favourite or That's Alright

Least favourite Wooden Heart

oohmyback · 12/03/2021 21:47

I'm unusual in having wooden heart as my favourite...it's a shore song but was my grandmas favourite and we played it at her funeral....

magicstar1 · 12/03/2021 21:50

Ooh I’m such a huge Elvis fan. I listen to his Back in Memphis album over and over ... his voice was so wonderfully sexy on those sessions.

My all time favourite is probably Just Pretend, but his version of Bridge over Troubled Water makes me cry.

I haven’t a least favourite

Barabajagal · 12/03/2021 21:50

Favourite - Love Me Tender
Least favourite - Wooden Heart

magicstar1 · 12/03/2021 21:51

Also, I walked up the aisle to get married to the Hawaiian Wedding Song... sounded awesome in the church.
