Cucumber shortage?

QueenPaw · 12/03/2021 17:54

Anyone else noticed? I can't get a cucumber anywhere Grin
I'm happily mainlining gherkins instead but none to be found. Tried online shop and nothing, sent my dad out who reported none in Asda, Aldi or Lidl Confused

Plenty in markses, yesterday. British growers, too - though that could be why they did have some.

QueenPaw · 12/03/2021 17:57

Hmmm. My dad lives in the same county but different town and says no issues there. He didn't think to bring any over Grin

Plenty of supply is Sainsbury's here, so maybe a local issue.

Vinorosso74 · 12/03/2021 18:52

I went to Sainsburys on Tuesday and they had loads. Regular, large, mini....

Shodan · 12/03/2021 18:56

My local Mozzas had loads Grin Maybe we got your share...

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 12/03/2021 18:58

My morrisons delivery last week listed my cucumber as a missing item. There were 2 in the bags Confused

QueenPaw · 12/03/2021 18:58

It must be a local thing. Honestly there wasn't even a lone overpriced organic extra special one Sad
My gherkin consumption was already at dubious levels and now I have an added excuse

Don’t say that, my guinea pig will not be happy! She’s a cucumber addict

scrivette · 12/03/2021 22:52

I have noticed this! There often aren't any in my local Lidl.

idontlikealdi · 12/03/2021 22:53

No, we go through there a week and Allston fine!

Got a MASSIVE one in this week's delivery. Maybe someone in your area is stockpiling.

QueenPaw · 12/03/2021 23:16

Possibly! I'm avoiding going out as shielding
My dad keeps sending me photos of the fully stocked shelves in his area Angry
This was Asda

Didn't have any in the co op or Tesco's a couple of weeks ago. Is it Brexit?

Nitw1t · 13/03/2021 10:06

I've noticed this.

In Kent.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 13/03/2021 10:09

Nope,loads in m&s yesterday.

NoMackerelInSwindon · 13/03/2021 10:14

Temporary shortages coming across from Europe. Not cucumbers. Spare parts for Love Honey products. There is a run on cucumbers because dildo production is held in a backlog.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/03/2021 10:51

Yes. Morrisons brought me a cucumber that is shorter and fatter than normal... Grin

BiarritzCrackers · 13/03/2021 10:54

Yes! We have this here, have done for a couple of weeks, but it's only at the Coop that's an issue, where they usually come in from Spain. Got one yesterday from M&S, grown in Kent. I guess it's a Brexit issue.

scentedgeranium · 13/03/2021 11:05

I can't get my Mrs Elswood (or cheaper alternative fix) in Sainsbury's or Tesco
Life is hard

blackheartsgirl · 13/03/2021 11:46

There was or is a shortage of courgettes in our local morrisons last week. A notice by where they were said there were supply issues from abroad where apparantly the growers had poor growing conditions hence the shortage.

Cucumbers and courgettes are part of the same family so maybe thats why supplies have been affected in places

QueenPaw · 13/03/2021 12:21

@scentedgeranium see I got Mrs elswood as an alternative with no issues! How weird
