My first IVF appointment is next week and I'm already constantly thinking about it.... I'm panicking that they'll say I'm too fat... I'm a size 12, 5ft 6 and weight 13 stone (ill be on my period when I go and I know you gain more weight that week). I'm stressed... I've told my friends whats going on for the first time and I've said no baby talk for a few months I need to be in a positive head space... has anyone else found ways of relaxing or ways to re assure yourself to help reduce stress... any meditation videos you've found or ways of living you've done... I'm open to any advice

Hey, you might want to come over to infertility. We had our first appointment in January and it was far more straightforward that we expected.

We've been ttc for over two years and dp has a problem so we are ' lucky' to not be unexplained. We were referred right away to start in September or maybe October. I'm slightly overweight and trying to lose it before IVF, but I think they only stop you having it if your BMI is thirty or over.

It's really hard and you sort of lose faith in yourself, your body etc. There will also be friends you can talk to and ones who you can't. Your closest friends may weirdly not get it at all.

I had seven rounds of ivf before my twins. I would recommend hypnotherapy. I had got myself into a satiate worrying about never having children and I think this contributed to the infertility. I was also carrying a lot of grief over my mums death. On my successful ivf I went to a specialised fertility hypnotherapist. It really affected how I was feeling and thinking. Like a weight lifted off me. I also took unpaid leave from work and it was summer so I was meeting friends for lunch or a walk in great weather. I really think the fact that I was relaxed and stress free made all the difference.
