Never felt pain and discomfort like this!

Since Wednesday I have been experiencing pain and pressure in my lower abdomen. if I lie on my back, the pain is minimal but standing up or lying on my side is agony.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's really hard to describe the pain and with doctors not doing face to face, I'm not sure it is worth ringing the GP to be fobbed off with painkillers.

If you're in agony since Wednesday - you need to see a doctor.

Bagelsandbrie · 12/03/2021 06:40

Agony - see a doctor. Could be anything from appendicitis to an ovarian cyst to ibs or whatever else...!

Ohdoleavemealone · 12/03/2021 06:46

Thanks ladies. I rarely go to the doctors as I feel like I am wasting their time but I have barely eaten for 2 days and have been up half the night.

Is it ovulation pains? Mine are horrific. Lying down is fine but standing up I can hardly weight bear on the leg on the side I’m ovulating on

Ohdoleavemealone · 12/03/2021 06:50

No not ovulation. It feels like someone has filled me with stones and the are trying to push their way out at the bottom of my belly!

A&E would be reasonable if you've been in agony for 2 days.

giletrouge · 12/03/2021 06:53

Hopefully you won't be fobbed off with painkillers OP - I really think you need a Dr ASAP - please tell them what you've said here. Hope you're ok. Could easily be appendicitis or something else serious but treatable.

diamondpony80 · 12/03/2021 06:55

Not worth ringing the GP? You’re in agony, you need help and your body is telling you something is wrong. My mum didn’t want to bother the GP either so didn’t call when she had pains. Turned out to be a burst ovarian cyst which was very serious.

Ohdoleavemealone · 12/03/2021 06:56

You are right it is silly. I will ring when they open.

You might as well go straight to A&E because ot sounds like you need a hands on examination, xray, maybe CT scan, bloods taken, proper pain relief, a surgical opinion etc etc

Hyacinth88 · 12/03/2021 07:01

Skip the Gp. Head to A and E you need investigations a Gp csnt do

Impatientwino · 12/03/2021 07:38

I think your GP will send you straight to the hospital for further investigations so I wouldn't bother waiting for them to open if this is getting progressively worse.

Hope you resolve things quickly

dappledsunshine · 12/03/2021 07:57

Ring 111, they can assess & book you into A&E if needed.

Wetalkedaboutthis · 12/03/2021 08:31

I felt as though I was being stabbed in the lower abdomen by knives a couple of years ago, it turned out to be cystitis but because I didn't have the urgency associated with it, I had no idea. I hope it is something straightforward but please get it checked out today.
