Question 17

On the Census Form it says Question 17, this question is intentionally left blank.

What question would you have included?

I am torn between a question asking if the household has any pets, if you think the monarchy should be abolished or do you think you should put milk in the cup before the tea. I think they all have relevance in their own way.

Ha ha Grin
What about asking each member of the household who their celebrity crush is?!

kennelmaid · 11/03/2021 17:59

It's obvious what the blank question should be, surely? Marmite - love it or hate it?

viques · 11/03/2021 17:59

Now that would be a great help to future social historians ! “Look CitizenRobot 93, here’s another 2021 Question 17 citing Kardashian, but this one has a slightly different prefix , do you think it could have been some sort of cult or religion?”

Is your household shoes on, or shoes off?

A question which would split the nation and possibly lead to civil war.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 11/03/2021 18:07

How many loo brushes are in your house RIGHT NOW?! 😂

Lurkingforawhile · 11/03/2021 18:10

Which way round is your cutlery drawer - forks on the left or the right? Or alternatively what time do you eat dinner

Significantown · 11/03/2021 19:12

Do you believe dinner is in the middle of the day or the evening?

Oh. Mine are in the middle. Knives(l) forks (m) spoons (r)
Megan2018 · 11/03/2021 20:33

Scones-jam or cream first?

(Team Devon here btw)

Cocomarine · 11/03/2021 20:35

I love Question 17! The possibilities are endless 🙂

110APiccadilly · 11/03/2021 20:42

I get asked question 17. Because I'm one of the special people definitely not just because I live in Wales.

Lurkingforawhile · 11/03/2021 21:38

@110APiccadilly that's a tease! I'm guessing it's more dull than we might hope then? Or it's in welsh and we won't understand it anyway!

110APiccadilly · 11/03/2021 21:41

@Lurkingforawhile you're nearly right. It's the question that asks whether you can speak, understand, read or write Welsh.

No offence Piccadilly, but I am a little sad that the census people censored Question 17 for the rest of us.

Marmite.
Love it

Lurkingforawhile · 11/03/2021 22:41

Would be interesting to ask that question in England too - two of my team speak welsh!

coldemortreturns · 11/03/2021 22:44

That's annoying. I'm literally a few hundred meters from the border. Lots of Welsh speakers, do we not get counted?

110APiccadilly · 12/03/2021 04:56

I think it is sometimes suggested that they ask in England, but it's one of those things where it's quite expensive because although the cost per question is small, if you scale it up across the whole population it's big. It would be interesting to know how many people in England spoke (or read, wrote, or understood) Welsh though.

coldemortreturns · 12/03/2021 10:57

It would be as there's a lot of migration from Wales into English border towns for employment opportunities. And I would say more so from traditional Welsh speaking areas (thinking especially of Gwynedd which whilst beautiful is limited in employment opportunities).

TableDesk · 12/03/2021 13:12

I'm in NI and there was definitely a question whether I spoke mmmmm now I'm not sure now, either Ulster Scots or Irish

Mine go from front to back (spoons at the back)
