Is it just me who does this

I've been busy and feeling hungry and there isn't much in the house apart from beans on toast which I don't fancy. No biscuits and no cakes to hand so I go for the only other option which is the lump of leftover Christmas cake in the cupboard and a piece of cheese and tell myself its nice.
It must be since I'm going back for more - can't quite work out if it is in desperation or not :)

YABVU...have you not started on the Easter eggs? Not trying hard enough.

No and that is because I haven't bought any or I would have done

But Christmas cake and a lump of cheese is nice. I'd love to have something like that available without having to go out.

Plus with the protein in the cheese and nuts in the cake, it's likely to be reasonably filling and not completely rubbish nutritionwise.

I stopped making Christmas cake because I'd sort of gone off it, but DM had a really nice one this year, and I've vowed to make one again. I might not even wait until next Christmas.

Chrisrmas cake is always delicious no matter what time of year:)

My late FIL used to eat Christmas cake with stilton. We all thought it was weird. A Yorkshire thing, apparently... Confused

We always eat Christmas cake with cheese! Half of the Xmas cheese is chosen to suit the cake. 😂 Cornish Yarg is particularly nice. DH has Bombay Mix with his, too.

It isn't about the cake and the cheese .. it's more about the sheer desperation of eating something you wouldn't if there was a half decent alternative ! But yeah... I agree the cheese is always a must with Christmas cake even if the cake is stale - as mine is :)
