Looking at job arrangements for early next year. How much do you pay for wraparound care for a young primary age child? Ie after school and breakfast clubs, holiday clubs

We're in the south east

Breakfast club is £5 and after school is £10 (runs until 6pm)

They're run by the school.

Holiday clubs vary depending on full / half day, but are usually around £15 - £20 a day with no food provided, depending on the type of holiday club.

Looking into this as DD starts reception in September, breakfast club is £7 and after school £15 !! I was hoping I'd see a drop in childcare fees but I don't think it's going to happen!!!

The wrap around is provided by a local nursery. The school don't take kids until they are 6! My main issue is it's really inflexible and I have to book a term in advance with a month notice to change - not helpful when my work pattern can change

Stressed about it at the moment to be honest

Begonias · 11/03/2021 09:56

My wraparound care is done by the childminder. Breakfast is 7.30-8.45 £4.50. after-school 3.15- 5.30 is £7.00. if I'm running late for pickup I normally ring and she'll just add the extra to my invoice. For example when it was s owing I was late picking up DD and she didn't charge me as it was exceptional circumstances. The school wraparound care finishes at 5.30 and if you're late it's £1/minute, it wasn't flexible enough for me.

Morning is £5 here (SE) and after school £12, run by the school. The two other schools we might have been able to get into had a weird patchwork of arrangements and/or no offering for Reception.

wouldukissafrog · 11/03/2021 09:58

@Begonias that's a really good rate! My enquiries with a childminder was £9 breakfast from 8am -8.40!! And then £14 after school until 5pm with another £7 if go past 5 pm
I'm West Midlands

DipSwimSwoosh · 11/03/2021 10:39

Ours is £2.50 for breakfast, £7 for after school but only open until 5pm.

ineedaholidayandwine · 11/03/2021 10:57

£5 Breakfast club, £10 after school club, runs until 6pm, holiday club £28 a day
I don't think holiday club includes food.

Miscarriage39 · 11/03/2021 11:16

Breakfast club is £6 for first child and £5 for any other (7.30-8.55). After school is £12 until 6pm. This is a school run service. Local childminders are considerably more, as are the big companies that offer wraparound for many of the other schools in the area.

MrsPworkingmummy · 11/03/2021 11:21

Here in the North East, I was paying £5.50 for breakfast club and £15.50 for after school club. That was in a 'good' school in a very middle class and affluent area. We have since moved. DD now goes to an inner city and diverse school (which is also 'good' ; we much prefer it) and we pay £1.20 for breakfast club and £2.50 for after school club. The facilities offered and actually much better here too. The school gets a lot of funding for pupil premium students and they've spent a lot of it on engaging facilities and play equipment. PP students don't pay for breakfast or after school club.

sleepyhead · 11/03/2021 11:29

Breakfast club is £2 from 8am (£1 for any subsequent children) and After School is £10 to 6pm.

We're lucky that we don't have to use holiday clubs.

frogsbreath · 11/03/2021 11:40

Breakfast club £2 a day and after school club £12.50 a day

gingajewel · 11/03/2021 12:17

Breakfast club is £3.00 and afterschool club is £4.50 up until six and both offer food included in that price, I am in West Midlands.

wouldukissafrog · 11/03/2021 12:31

@gingajewel do you mind me asking where about in West Midlands? We are Solihull / Coventry border but your wrap around is so much cheaper!!!!

Tryingtryingandtrying · 11/03/2021 12:34

£20 per child per day. So £300 per week for someone working full time with 3 children. It's still a lot of money, even once the nursery days are gone.

EllieQ · 11/03/2021 12:43

I’m in Yorkshire. Breakfast club is £6/ session (7.30-8.45). After school club is £10/ session - this runs from 3 until 6.

Holiday club is £30/ day including all food/ snacks, and runs from 8-6.

It’s on the same site as the school (but not run by the school).

Camomila · 11/03/2021 12:49

South East - after school club is £10 a session, but they get tea.

Not sure about holiday club as we've not booked one yet.

Mumof1andacat · 11/03/2021 12:55

£5.25 for breakfast which runs from 07:30 and £10 for after school which includes a snack. Holiday clubs in the area generally run 8am - 6pm and general priced around £20 for a day

skeggycaggy · 11/03/2021 12:55

Our school doesn’t do a holiday club. Local friends seem to use family for childcare (we’ve not lived here long), think I will have to get my parents down.

Breakfast from 8 is £2
After school until 4 is £4

But only offering wraparound till 4 is a bit shit IMO.

Ohdoleavemealone · 11/03/2021 12:58

5.50 breakfast and 11 after school which includes a meal.

No holiday club at the school and local ones that actually cover the hours needed for working parents are £30-40 a day.

TheJerkStore · 11/03/2021 16:32

£5 for before school club and £8 for after school... paid for using our tax free childcare account.

SprogletsMum · 11/03/2021 16:36

Wow our school runs before and after school care, you can pay different amounts depending on the amount of time needed but the maximum paid is from 7.30am-6pm and that would be £7 per child

noscoobydoodle · 11/03/2021 16:54

Breakfast club at school £3 (free for FSM) And after school run by a third party provider £12 until 6pm includes tea and pick up. Holiday club is £38 7.30-6 (including 3 meals) or £25 9-3 (including lunch only).

radness75 · 11/03/2021 17:02

We are £1 for breakfast club from 8am and £11.66 per session for after school club until 530pm. Really need it to run until 545pm so we may not use it much as we will still have to use grandparents due to work finishing times

RabbitBeaver · 11/03/2021 17:12

I pay £60.92 per week for 5 breakfast sessions 7.30-8.35 and 4 after school sessions from 3.25-5.30. West Midlands

gingajewel · 11/03/2021 17:18

@wouldukissafrog I’m in Wolverhampton
