I'm done with The Guardian. Absolutely had enough. Where do I get my news from now???

It’s hard, I’m trialling The Spectator because they seem to have stood up against SNP and have GC articles. But not sure I will continue. I just cannot relate to half of it.

Suzanne Moore is at the Telegraph now I think, she seems to be writing a lot of of pieces for them anyway.

I do have to read some of the articles and think, er no, it’s clear a lot of the writers have no working class experience. It’s interesting to see things from the other side of the fence, without immediately thinking “evil Tory scum!” I listen to their Planet Normal podcast as they are very much anti-lockdown and had very moving episodes about a husband who was at the point of despair and couldn’t visit his wife in a care home. They followed their story for a couple of months, the wife died not so long ago but the husband had eventually managed to visit her. I tell you I was in bits every time they featured and i was not expecting Telegraph journalism to do that to me.

I just read the economist and the week! Both balanced, the week for news and the economist is great for long form articles and learning about the world.

I tried out the Spectator and Telegraph but both too right-wing for me. I've settled on a combination of the Financial Times, Private Eye and the Times.

I've moved across to the times and taken out a subscription. I don't agree with it all but I just can't bear to read the guardian or the bbc any more

I just get bogged down in it all. Nothing sits with me at all. Is The Week literally just once a week? I love to read the news throughout the day.

The Week is online as well, but I get the print version - it covers all national and international news from both left and right wing and in between - eg for the major stories they go: what happened, what left said, what right said, what’s next. Actually really useful!

I understand you wanting to go online and read throughout the day, but I’m enjoying having a cuppa and reading a bit of the economist/the week at a time throughout the week instead of online. I feel like just reading news as it happens online isn’t that valuable as I don’t really remember it (apart from a breaking story but the bbc is fine for that).

I’d rather get the full educated view on what is happening that week in the world and the UK from a publication. You can get free trials for both!

Is there such a thing as a right wing feminist ?

I'll go on here just for this alone - a place that will cover both sides so I can easily get the 'gist' and make up my own mind rather than reading reports from one side is right up my street. I'm neither left no right so thanks for this.

I’m reading the i paper and Private Eye...

GrammarTeacher · 11/03/2021 12:28

Same place as always. Not all feminists agree on all issues. And I always try to read from a range of sources anyway.
