Why do I keep waking at 6.18?

Doesn't matter what time I go to bed, whether I've had a sleeping tablet or not, I keep waking at 6.18am. Very specific time. Why??

Something is waking you up? Could be an alarm next door or a car door or a particular vehicle going past.

Could it be the central heating or a neighbour going to work and starting their car

Is that when your heating turns on?
I’ve been waking up at a similar time and I think it’s the noise of radiators

I have the same thing. Turns out that the neighbours have a really loud annoying alarm clock! Detached houses too, so it must be really loud in theirs!

Heating kicking in.
Neighbours leaving for work.
Someone's alarm clock.
Habit.

LudoBear · 11/03/2021 06:47

Not the heating as it's not on a timer, I put it on when I want it on.

I should have said I sleep with ear plugs as I'm a very light sleeper anyway. Live on my own so nobody in the house waking me. None of my immediate neighbours work so they have no reason to set an alarm.

I've always find through phases of this. I remember 0635 for a while when I was a teenager.

I just attribute it to the body being exceptionally weird.

Pepperminttea16 · 11/03/2021 07:10

It’s because you are checking the time. Looking at the time when you wake up trains your body to think that is the time you should be awake. I had a real problem a few years ago waking up at 3:48 in the morning and being awake for ages. Stop checking the time when you wake up and it should stopSmile

This was happening to us and we couldn't work it out. It was only after speaking to a neighbour that we found out Twatty Neighbour's (TN) son drops their DC to TN for childcare, then feels the need to beep their horn as a goodbye (because clearly just saying goodbye at the door doesn't cut it). It went on for months. The council wouldn't/couldn't do anything, and in the end someone from further up the road had a massive row in the street with TN over it. Physical threats were made and the beeping stopped.
TN continues to be twatty in many other ways sadly, but at least we are no longer all being woken up at 6am.

It's groundhog Day.

It’s a Sign from the Universe. Probably telling you to watch The One Show at 6.18pm because you’ll see a recipe you’ll quite enjoy.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 11/03/2021 11:34

The sun here is rising at 6.19am, so unless you have blackout blinds probably nature telling you it's time to get up!
