I do. Not sure what I'm frightened of exactly.. damage to property I think.

Its just so uncontrollable.

Me too. I imagine the roof lifting clean off and blowing away across the sky Blush

RunningFromInsanity · 10/03/2021 22:32

I love it. I love listening to it outside and know that I’m all cosy and warm inside.

Aquamarine1029 · 10/03/2021 22:32

High winds can be very unnerving, I agree. We have a very large tree near our house, and high winds always make me a bit edgy.

Haggisfish · 10/03/2021 22:33

No, I love it.

Reinventinganna · 10/03/2021 22:33

I like it. I can hear the waves crashing! It’s relaxing.

WantChewbaccaForGood · 10/03/2021 22:35

No, I find it invigorating, it makes me yearn for something but I don't know what. Freedom maybe, it's so free.

Sh05 · 10/03/2021 22:36

@BigTallyWacker

I say this every time it's super windy. The teens laugh but that's how it feels.
I just won't sleep well all night, I know the roof is secure, it's new but still.

Mykittensmittens · 10/03/2021 22:37

I live in a house in woodland. I absolutely love it. It’s really loud tonight but I find it soothing. On nights with no wind the noise is foxes or owls. So either way it’s rarely a quiet night in the respect of nature.

ValerieMorghulis · 10/03/2021 22:38

I hate it. It’s not fear of anything happening but the constant low level noise grates on me and I end up really tense.

I’ve got my ear plugs in now

DramaAlpaca · 10/03/2021 22:40

I don't mind windy weather and don't find it particularly scary, but what I do worry about is it causing power outages. I find power cuts really stressful.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 10/03/2021 22:40

Yes, I’m exactly the same. Just the sound makes me all irritated and unsettled, but since perimenopausal anxiety kicked in, I’m now also terrified of the house being damaged.

If things get too bad tonight I’ll probably come down and sleep (or try to) on the sofa. It seems better being downstairs. I also use white noise to try to block it out as I go to sleep.

SnottyLottie · 10/03/2021 22:41

I hate the noise more than anything, so whooshy and angry

ShrimpSymphony · 10/03/2021 22:42

No I find it extremely relaxing listening to it

MsSavouryPancake · 10/03/2021 22:42

Not at all . Was raised in a very windy wet place .

fizzyp0p · 10/03/2021 22:43

Yes hate it

Frownette · 10/03/2021 22:43

It's really windy here tonight. I was in the shop and it blew the doors open

Have we got a storm going on?

DareIask · 10/03/2021 22:43

Does anyone know when it's likely to stop?

OP posts:
OhWhyNot · 10/03/2021 22:44

I love howling wind especially when raining too and I’m tucked up in bed

Honeyroar · 10/03/2021 22:45

I do at the minute because our roof needs work doing. And it’s an old house with huge heavy stone roof tiles that would do a lot of damage if it came down.

jellybe · 10/03/2021 22:45

I love it. I've just come up to bed and, unless it is freezing, always sleep with my window slightly open. I'm loving hearing the wind whistle through the gap of my open window and around the houses as I snuggle down under my feather duvet.

RoseMartha · 10/03/2021 22:45

Yes, but as an adult I got blown over by the wind once and blown down the road.

screweduppotatoe · 10/03/2021 22:45

I used to. I once invested in bomb blast window film and during particularly bad storms I would sleep on the floor of my then babies room, with her white noise cd blaring. I also started crying during a science lesson when I was at college because I was convinced the wind was going to blow the large windows in. I don’t know why but it doesn’t bother me anymore

kateemo · 10/03/2021 22:47

Yes. Because I grew up in South Florida with hurricanes. High wind is absolutely frightening.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 10/03/2021 22:48

Yes. My bedroom faces south west, out over playing fields, reservoirs and marshes. You can literally hear the wind roaring in to slam into the house.

I won't be getting a good night's sleep tonight.

postcardfromme · 10/03/2021 22:48

Yes I find it scary and worry about homeless people
