TV Drama Series, 1980s, Kids Kidnapped and Killed Teacher

This has been driving me mad for years! I remember watching a TV series or one off (I THINK on the BBC) in the '80s.

A male teacher had told off a male student who then went all out for revenge. He convinced other students to kidnap the teacher with him.

I remember the teacher being tied up in a garage or barn somehwere and then they killed him - possibly accidentally. When the Police interrogated them afterwards the ringleader cleverly convinced the Police that the teacher had sexually abused him.

I think it was called "The Police" but I've never been able to find it anywhere or any reference of it. Does anyone else remember it?

There's a book like this, called Killing Mr Griffin. I don't know a TV programme though.

Wow thanks! The TV show was definitely British but the plot sounds very close. I remember in the end the kids got away with it because the protagonist alluded to sexual abuse and that the teacher had lured him there for that purpose. It was really dark!

I do remember this - the boy kept saying 'I'll say you touched my tail' which I thought was very odd - I was probably too young to watch it. Can't remember what it was called though.

Yes and afterwards he told the Police "He showed me pictures of tails". It was so dark and I definitely wasn't old enough to be watching it!

I am sure i saw this title recently advertised on the Discovery channel.

Found this thread as I was also desperately trying to work out what this programme was. I saw it when I was about 12 and it stook with me because it was so dark and odd.
