In line with the Arseholes Who've Ruined Groups And Hobbies thread.

I was reading the thread and realised I had more stories regarding workplaces than groups or hobbies.

Have you ever left a job you really enjoyed because of That One Person and what did they do? How bad was it?

I had HR lady who was so particular she bought the whole office matching cups & would threw out any personal mugs she came across (but lie and say it wasn't her) She was the same with photos or nic nacs on desks - She would wait till you left for the day and throw them away. Then totally deny it was her.

She also demanded we took of our shoes off on coming into the office and had to purchase a (flats only) dedicated 'indoors only' stay at the office pair.

Other highlights were denying your annual leave (even if booked in advance for ages) if she felt you somehow slighted her - She got jealous when her MD complimented one of the team on a nice jumper (poor girl couldn't get leave for months) or when one of the lasses won a local competition and you tell she was fuming.

Seems a petty reason to leave a good job as there was no bulling or harassment as such - I just got tired of having to second guess her mood all the time.

I would class the behaviour as harassment.

I think for the theft you should have said any more and the police will be called.

There was never any evidence and who were we going to complain to? - she was the head of HR (and the MD was her best mate)

Nah we just decided she had some issues with cleanliness and order so she couldn't bear clutter or things not matching. We all learned pretty quickly that you just didn't bring anything in.

I'm saddened that you (and others) did not feel able to respond to her. Or done things such as leaving a mug with something unpleasant in, or had superglue freshly applied to a photo frame.
