Negative Covid result

Hi

Has anyone else had a negative result whilst displaying all of the symptoms?

I have had my negative result through today but feel horrific and have done for a few days. 38.5 temp, cough and loss of taste and smell along with a stomach upset.

The advice is that I now don’t have to isolate but surely if the test was wrong then I shouldn’t be going back into an office where I could potentially spread it? This advice was given to me by someone on the Covid hotline this morning.

I’ve also kept DS off school this week due to my symptoms but am now thinking I should maybe send him back in?

Aargh... the guidelines are so contradictory!

You'd stay off as long as you felt unwell as you could pass something else on to others.
It could be a false negative if you tested too soon.

You should not go to work with those symptoms, no - as everyone who gets the same will a) feel crap and b) have to isolate until tested

If you really feel uncertain you could get the free lateral flow tests for parents (just collect from test centre - see gov website for your nearest) and test regularly to see if any of those pick it up?

It could be a different virus, is all.

Thanks for the replies, that is what I thought too!

I have also ordered some of the lateral flow tests.
