Adrenal lesion - what is it?

I've just received a letter copied to me in the post from a consultant in the hospital where I was admitted for a few days.

It states 'this is a patient who had presented with abdominal pain and there were some lympt nodes. We discussed the imaging at the Gastro MDT. We do not think the lymph nodes were of concern and the plan is to refer to endocrine regarding the adrenal lesion.'

Have also received a copy of a letter asking GP 'please could you see if she needs further endocrine follow up'.

First of all, I thought that lymph nodes are simply things that exist!!!

And what the fuck is an adrenal lesion? I was not told about this while in hospital, nor on discharge letter? Wasn't mentioned at all.

Now, I'm not sure whether I've fucked up my googling, but adrenal glands are in throat or something so how the hell could they be related to abdominal pain?

There are adrenal glands in the abdomen if you google that. Seems that they use the word lesion for many things So you need to give your consultant or GP a ring to ask them to expand.

Well clearly I would love to speak to my GP but it's impossible. Trying to get through at moment.

The adrenal gland is by the kidney. Very common to find tiny masses on them (usually benign adenomas). If very small may not need any further investigation. May need another type of scan, may need some blood/urine tests. It’s a frequent thing we find now scans are so good! But you should have been told all this before you went home, unacceptable that you weren’t.

is that what they're calling lymph nodes?
