Hey, I'm anxious. Back at work tomorrow after being off with anxiety and can't sleep for worrying I won't cope

Hi.... I can't sleep either. How long were you off for? Have you got any kind of phased return, or are you straight back into it? I had a couple of months off with anxiety last year, and the thought of going back was definitely worse than the reality. 💐

Justa47 · 10/03/2021 04:38

@Imagineit

I am up too. Just do one step at a time.
Think about the next hour only and break the day down in to small chunks. I hope that will help.

Imagineit · 10/03/2021 04:38

Hey no straight back in, not been off long and I have t really got a hold on the anxiety but at hope I obsess and spiral in it

I'm awake as well, can't sleep last 4am recently, it's very frustrating. What time do you start work?

Imagineit · 10/03/2021 04:48

8am. Just really want to feel well but anxiety keeps getting the better of me. Think I've had 3 hours

OP posts:
MissSmiley · 10/03/2021 04:49

@Imagineit what time did you nod off? I'm usually ok with 6 hours or more

@Cliffdonville I was like that before I started HRT

I've woken up with pain in my stomach

Beaniebeemer · 10/03/2021 04:51

I’m in the same boat. I went back yesterday after a month off and I’m still anxious about going in today.

Imagineit · 10/03/2021 04:51

I've had three hours most

Imagineit · 10/03/2021 04:52

Had a night terror and then woken by my son after nodding off

@MissSmiley I think I might be peri menopausal, having symptoms that indicate it but I'm not 40 yet! Will need to take a trip to the GP soon!

I have given up on sleep now and am up with coffee!

MissSmiley · 10/03/2021 04:58

@Imagineit you'll be ok, just make sure you get in bed early tonight

Frazzledd · 10/03/2021 04:58

2 year old teething, 3 year old just woke up....been up since 1...think I'm managing on average 3 hours sleep- went 72 hours straight last week and started jumping at my own shadow, had to write down and say out loud everything I was doing.....I'm wallowing....Sad

Try not to worry OP (easier said), your going back after a needed time off, no one will be expecting you to be on top form and I hope they'd be supportive in easing you back Flowers

Cliffdonville · 10/03/2021 04:58

@Imagineit sleep terrors are awful, how long have you been off work? Going back after being off is really tough

MissSmiley · 10/03/2021 05:00

@Cliffdonville what else makes you think it's peri? I was 47 when the sleep thing started but 42 when my periods starting going weird (closer together and heavier)

MissSmiley · 10/03/2021 05:01

@Frazzledd oh my goodness that sounds really tough, I can remember those days

Imagineit · 10/03/2021 05:02

I've only been off two weeks. It's the anxiety. I'm on sertraline but it's not taken full effect yet. Maybe I should t have rushed myself

Oo I've got a gynae appointment coming up as this is something I'm experiencing (every two weeks, really heavy) - have some other problems too after a surgery last year, but this has been worrying me- they prescribed tranexemic (?) acid to slow the bleeding but what did they say this was/a sign of?

Howmanysleepsnow · 10/03/2021 05:04

@Imagineit you’ll be fine. See if you can rest for an hour or two now. Chamomile tea/ hot milk, tv or music on low if it helps.
Tomorrow break things down step by step. To do lists help keep me focused and ticking them off makes it easier to see I’ve achieved something.
Make some time for yourself as a reward when you get home/ after dc go to bed: chocolate you don’t have to share/ bubble bath/ a walk/ coffee in the garden if it’s sunny / whatever.
Try not to avoid/ leave anxiety provoking situations if possible- it rewards the anxiety response and makes it stronger. If you can stick with it for 40 minutes the anxiety should start to lessen.
Stay strong, you’ve got this FlowersBrew

Frownette · 10/03/2021 05:05

Just got up, it'll be weird first few minutes then you'll feel you've never been away. Get a drink to sip and you'll be fine.

Knowing it'll pass is what's keeping me going....until I drop Shock -

Cliffdonville · 10/03/2021 05:19

@MissSmiley my periods have always been really regular but over the past 6 months I've only had 2, regular headaches, low mood and the sleep issues. I've lost my mojo totally! It's rubbish.

MissSmiley · 10/03/2021 05:28

@Cliffdonville umm that's odd, a bit early for peri but it does sound like it
