Suggestions for online easy simple distractions for when times aren't great....

Husband is quite seriously unwell in hospital, I'm trying to hold myself together. Am struggling with some easy basic online distractions....

Not feeling Facebook, Twitter, Instagram at the moment..... I use comedy podcasts to fall asleep to so don't want to wear those out too much 🙈

What are your go to online easy distractions when times aren't great?

Sorry to hear things are so tough at the moment Flowers.

I’ve heard good things about Sporcle so that might be worth a look?

I can’t be bothered with a lot of social media, but there’s some good nature and wildlife groups on Facebook. I’ve set up a second Facebook account to follow those, so that I can look at nice pictures of wildlife without having to see all the rubbish my friends post. I know you said you’re tired off Facebook etc, but might something like that work?

Not online exactly, but I’ve found audiobooks a great distraction during lockdown helping me to get our for walks, engaging and good for passing the time. You can usually access them for free if you’re a member of your local library.

Sporcle quizzes - I like the ones where you name all countries starting with a certain letter, or the name all countries in the world one.

Sorry to hear tough time op Flowers
I found an app last year called happy colour it is online colouring
It definitely passes the time and is free I really like it might be worth a try?
No brain power required but at the same time your brain busy doing the colours if that makes sense

Sorry to hear about your husband.
I like watching upcycling furniture videos on youtube and cleaning and organising videos. Hermione Chantal and madeleine (not sure of second name) Patio transformations.. Yep not for everyone but I find them relaxing.

I played a lot of games on my phone in first lockdown. Biggest time waster was Fishdom. Also The Room, there are 3 of them. Cut the rope, Threes as well.
And sorry you are going through this

An app/game called two dots is just finding squares endlessly it's non taxing.

Grenlei · 09/03/2021 23:50

Quizzes are my go to, jetpunk is good in addition to Sporcle.

Also card games like Solitaire on your phone can be quite easy and you can't pick up/ put down them at any time.

Also sorry to hear about your DH, hoping things improve for you Flowers

Really sorry about your husband.

I've had ti be in hospital a lot with my mum and I ended up taking crochet (and feeling 100 years older!) As I liked the repetitiveness of it.

I also liked a game on my phone which was basically untangling rope/shoelaces. Really easy but therapeutic.

Online jigsaw puzzles. Again engrossing enough to be interesting and give satisfaction but fine to stop!

Have you got netflix/iplayer /similar on your phone..? Anything a bit mindless?

My husband plays a movie show programme (simon mayo and someone else...). I don't have a clue who anyone is in movies but they both whiter away and zlI often listen to it at night. Its all very relaxing and they have a lot of bamter between them. It doeent matter if you miss a bit or fall asleep as its not like a story they both just whitter on!

Sorry to hear about your husband.

I often play solitaire games to pass time and relax.

I prefer solitaire versions that are a bit more challenging such as Algerian Patience Solitaire or Addiction Solitaire.

Suzysuz · 10/03/2021 11:55

Thank you all again ❤️

Two dots is definitely hitting the mark right now, not too taxing but keeps brain otherwise occupied.

Will definitely also look into the online colour painting app and online jigsaws 👍

I love the Max out in the Lake District YouTube channel. They've got a Facebook page as well. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3bNfPJBvzogqJTKJEckd4Q
