To occupy my intelligent, but very fed up with lockdown, 16 year old DS! We've been playing a lot of Scrabble (at around 10pm when he is fully alert!). Looking for suggestions for something to challenge him but not too tricky for his ancient mumGrin
Thanks

I always loved 'Guess Who' when i was little and I know that a more modern version of it has been made in the last few years. It's a great board game for any age group

RaininSummer · 09/03/2021 22:19

Catan is excellent. Carcassonne is also enjoyed in our family.

frostymornings · 09/03/2021 22:21

Ooh we like Carcasonne. Not heard of Catan, will have a look.

Rummikub is fun. The app is free on iTunes. Also Tripoley is good

Azul, Bananagrams

Codenames... I love it and there is an online version you can play over video call too.

MinesAPintOfTea · 09/03/2021 22:26

Ticket to ride.

Forbidden dessert for a cooperative game

Catan is great.

KeyboardWorriers · 09/03/2021 22:30

Pandemic - it's a strategic cooperative game and it's really good

milinhas · 09/03/2021 22:31

Patchwork and Splendour both good for 2 player, also Catan / Ticket to Ride as already suggested

KeyboardWorriers · 09/03/2021 22:31

Avalon- great if there’s a few of you to play.

Cactusowl · 09/03/2021 22:36

Tsuro path of the dragon is a lovely gentle game.

ILOVEALLCAKES · 09/03/2021 22:37

Yahtzee! We got it for Christmas and have played it almost every day since then

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 09/03/2021 22:37

Mastermind is an old one but challenging.
Rummikub is one of our favourites too.
I also really like Yahtzee and Othello.

(Tho none of these are 'board games')

frostymornings · 09/03/2021 22:38

Oh gosh so many to look at, thanks so much! We do love board games but have become a bit stale and need something more challenging and fun.

SourMilkGhyll · 09/03/2021 22:40

Ticket to ride is fab.

grandmasterstitch · 09/03/2021 22:41

Catan, ticket to ride and 221B Baker Street are favourites here

LifesLittleDeciders · 09/03/2021 22:42

Cards against humanity.

CorpusCallosum · 09/03/2021 22:46

Oooh, Pandemic (no, really) it's simply one of the best board games ever made. It's cooperative so either everyone wins or the game beats you - so really good for family bonding.

Plus once you've got familiar with base pandemic there are a million extensions / different versions (Iberia / Rising Tide) and Pandemic Legacy has got DH and I through Covid - it's amazing!!
