If you were an important notebook and wasn't where expected..

Where would you be??

I have looked all the places I thought it might be, plus those I would be surprised to see if and no joy. I've seen enough lost threads to know posters are excellent at suggesting places not thought of.

It has really important stuff in it that I can't recall enough to rewrite an I've been tearful about not being able to find it. I know it sounds ridiculous but it is so important.

Recycling ? ( I found some important documents there yesterday)

Glove compartment ?

In one of the boxes that DH likes to shove stuff into, and then claims he never saw/touched anything.

Shoved under a sofa.

Slotted into the bookcase.

In a scruffy pile of children’s drawings/magazines/homework.

Nicked by a child to draw in.

In your scanner.

In a pile of other things that have been tidied up somewhere.

Fallen down the back of a desk/shelf/sofa.

In a handbag where you took it out with you somewhere.

These are where mine ends up.

On the windowsill in the bathroom

Has it been accidently kicked under a piece of furniture, even if there's a tiny gap underneath? Under a rug even?

Have you left it on top of a radiator and it's been knocked down the back?

Picked it up with a pile of laundry, ironing, books, kids stuff?

Perhaps there's an A4 hardcover meeting somewhere - in that case they all will be back soon (with a hangover).

In the box you keep those empty notebooks for future use?
Used as a tablet under a mug and plate?

Under the sofa? found something there yesterday after searching high and low.

My lost things are usually in one of two places - in the hallway where I sort my bag out before leaving the house and pull unnecessary items out of it, or in the car where again I pull unnecessary things out of my bag.

Otherwise, DH is a bugger for tidying away other people's important things. He just slots paperwork and books into the cookery books shelf in the kitchen - passports, documents that need signing immediately, birth certificates... All neatly tucked in with Delia and Bill.

Not found it yet. Have checked the massive recipe book bookcase, the same three drawers I have already looked in twice plus the same six boxes of books under the bed that have been checked three times.

I keep thinking it came downstairs and see it on the kitchen table and in the pile by my sofa and I am worried it went in the rechecking by mistake. If so, it is lot forever .

Dh thinks it must have gone up into the loft by mistake. We had a quick look last night and will try again today.

I'm going to be heartbroken if I can't find it. What is written in it is so important but only to me. I'm the only one hurt if it is lost.

We have searched the whole downstairs, checked through two bedrooms and asked the kids who inhabit the others and it hasn't been found. DH thinks it went in the roof by accident. I'm getting disheartened. Can someone pray to St Anthony for me please? I think he is the patron saint of lost things and someone prayed for someone on here who lost something and iirc it was found.

I will never buy black notebooks again. Just bright pink or yellows etc that are easy to see!

On a chair that has been pushed under a table or desk? That's my go to place since a past bunch of keys incident.

Check under your bed and sofas, especially if the space is really small. If you can picture it in the kitchen then check on top of your kitchen cupboards.

Good plan. I feel like I have looked everywhere and unless it has been put in the roof I can't see where else it can be. I'm going to look again this weekend in all the places I've looked three times already. That photo is amazing.

I’d say a prayer to St. Anthony tonight - this really does work surprisingly well (anecdotally, of course)!

Also try asking your subconscious just before you go to sleep. Your mind will work in the night to locate the memory for you.

This has made me emotional, just the thought I might actually find it again. I'm definitely going to try this. It is just so odd. It lives upstairs. It lives in one drawer yet I can picture it coming downstairs while also feeling like I decided not to take it down as it needed to stay upstairs. I knew as I put it somewhere it needed not to be put away there as I wouldn't remember it but then over road myself saying I would remember as it isn't its home. Grrrrrr

I am hopeless, absolutely hopeless. I am always putting things in a bag I don't use much (safe place) then cannot remember where (only that I said to myself it is a safe place). I cancelled a lost passport then found it in the wardrobe in a back pack. Too late! I found my cancelled laundry card in a similar cloth bag to my normal laundry bag. It was in an inside pocket that the other one does not have. I have lost it again. It was in my coat pocket along with my bank card. Both of them disappeared whilst I was out.

Tomorrow I am going to look everywhere again. Worst place is the loft as that is a mess thanks to the kids. I'd left it neat and tidy. I've also asked the kids to look in their rooms but that hasn't happened yet. I'm also going to try and remember more what was written in it and make a note.

Plans -

Be ruthless and get rid of stuff. Find this hard as Chuck out clothes then wish I still had them.
Write a list of what is where when the box is filled with a mix. I do do this a fair bit but I need to find this book.
Tick when definitely checked the box, shelf, drawer, cupboards.
Pray.

Haven't rtft but have a look in any stacks of homework papers and exercise books your DC might have lying around. I find all sorts of things in those when I finally get around to sorting them out!

I've found it .

I knew it was black and A4. I kept finding a black A4 notebook and three times have looked in it and it is empty. I decided I would go through everything and write down where I had checked to be quadruply sure. I checked clothes drawer, dressing table drawers, bedside drawers, boxes under the bed then pulled out the last one. Opened it, there was a black notebook and I opened it knowing it wasn't the one. Except it was . I don't even remember seeing it the last time I checked but I am sure I did look in this box and have no clue how I missed it.

Thank you all for caring enough to make suggestions. I know if isn't the most exciting thread or the most important thing but to me it is priceless.
