Favourite part of a roast dinner

For me it's stuffing. Followed closely by Yorkshire pudding.

My ideal roast dinner is 80% stuffing and puds in gravy, 20% meat and veg

What's your favourite part of a roast dinner?

It's so hard to choose. I love the roast potatoes, Yorkshire, meat, honey roasted parsnips, cauliflower cheese, lovely gravy. Yum yum.

CoffeeRunner · 09/03/2021 19:33

Gravy.

The only thing that I couldn’t eat it without.

Followed by roast parsnips & then roast potatoes.

ContadoraExplorer · 09/03/2021 19:34

@tobee

It cannot be divided. It is a whole entity WinkGrin
This! I do, however, always save some Yorkshire pudding for my last mouthful.

Cauliflower cheese, especially the charred bits of cheese.

3CCC · 09/03/2021 19:36

Yorkshire puddings

PurpleFadesToGreen · 09/03/2021 19:36

DHs roast beef, with his gravy made from the cooking pan stuffed in his homemade yorkies .

I could eat that everyday all day.

Roast potatoes give you hiccups? Please elaborate because I cannot fathom how!

GeorgiaGirl52 · 09/03/2021 19:38

The gravy. If the gravy isn't right, it ruins the stuffing, the potatoes, everything. Gravy Must Be Perfect!

icebearforpresident · 09/03/2021 19:39

^Roast potatoes, 100%

I often just cook a trayful of them and nothing else grin^

I have also been known to make myself roast potatoes for dinner.

Unmellowbirds · 09/03/2021 19:44

That bit at the very end, when you have about two spoonfuls of gravy left, bits and bobs of various veg and spuds, and scoop it all up together.

Bourbonbiccy · 09/03/2021 19:45

Pigs in blankets and roasties

Roast potatoes, crumpets and raw carrot sticks all give me hiccups. I don't know why though Grin

Roast parsnips.

KettleWentBang · 09/03/2021 19:48

The roasts, stuffing and yorks then the meat.

I've been known to have a veg less dinner just so I can fit more of the roasts etc on. I would say I'm ashamed but I'm not it was lovely

This. It makes or breaks the whole dinner.
I knew my relationship with my first boyfriend wouldn't last when I went to his parents house for Sunday lunch and he put mayonnaise on his dinner as he didn't like gravy ShockHmm

Mrsjayy · 09/03/2021 19:49

GlamourSpider · 09/03/2021 19:50

Swede or parsnips or swede or parsnips...can't decide between the two, oh and the gravy !

Impatientwino · 09/03/2021 19:51

Roast potatoes and gravy!

Also rare roast beef with English mustard!

Not sure this counts but I also really enjoy the cold glass of white wine I have when I'm faffing with a roast before serving it!

Blueappletree · 09/03/2021 19:51

Chicken skin and stuffing.

HermitsLife · 09/03/2021 19:52

Roast Potatoes, the food of the Gods.

FlatterNow · 09/03/2021 19:56

YES @potter5 bread sauce! Completely agree.

JustPootlingAlong · 09/03/2021 19:59

I agree, stuffing all the way!
Then beautiful crispy roast potatoes cooked with goose fat, garlic and rosemary 👌
Yorkshire pudding come is third for me.

Loopyloututu2 · 09/03/2021 19:59

Stuffing and cauliflower cheese here too!

CeibaTree · 09/03/2021 20:02

If it's cooked well then my favourite part is the meat, especially lamb or beef, followed by roast potatoes.

Blueappletree · 09/03/2021 20:02

I have heard of bread sauce, but never had one myself.(not native British/English, my English dh lost his mum young, so I don't think he knows how to make it) .Sounds really good, could anyone give me the recipe and how to cook it, please?
