Fed up with how crap 'Customer Service' is everywhere!

That's it really.
I seem to have spent too much time today chasing up things due to basically crap customer service:

  • Returned something to Millets - they still haven't refunded me 3 months and many emails later
  • Turned up at Boots to have them say they hadn't received my prescription. I contacted my GP surgery and got a terse 'well tell them we sent it '. Deadlock.
  • Trying to get a household job done. Contacted several tradespeople last week - not one has returned a call.

I know I'm old, but when I worked in business service standards used to be a thing and customer service was important.

Grr...

Everything is being blamed on covid

Poor customer service predates Covid. When I moved house four years ago I rang various tradespeople to get things done. Perhaps one in five even bothered to ring back. Those that did are pure gold.

Whenever I have to ring any Customer Services or Helplines now I imagine the person I am speaking to is WFH and probably in bed in their pyjamas watching This Morning with the subtitles on...

I think the thing that bugs me most is that there very rarely seems to be any 'case management' in customer services i.e. I ring up on Monday and speak to Nora and she takes loads of details and promises to look into it and get back to me. On Tuesday I call and speak to Shivam and he 'can't see anything on the system' so takes all the same details and promises to look into it and get back to me. On Thursday I speak to Jenny and she asks for all the same details again!

Update: I finally got through to Millets on the phone this afternoon and spoke to a very helpful Becky, but she said my order 'doesn't exist on the system' Confused so she took all my details and promised to look into it and get back to me . . .
