Can someone please explain 'Ring' doorbell to me and which do I get?

Just that really.

I'm so confused as I thought it was an app and I'd have someone fit it and that's it?

Do I need to get a company to fit it, is there a subscription each month, is there a way around that? (Eg own memory card option?)

Thanks in advance Flowers

I would be interested in this but DH says we don't need one and everyone stepping onto the drive including foxes will set it off.

A work colleague has one and is always fishing her phone out and saying 'ooh who is at the door?' and it's the postman or something. Grin

My DH isn't that keen either Grin

I have the ring 3 doorbell. It’s as simple as opening the box, charging it up and screwing (or I used double sided sticky pads) it to your doorframe. The app then shows a live view, alerts you to movement, and can answer the door when the bell rings.

It has sensitivity settings to stop it going off at the slightest little thing, and it’s easy to customise zones so it only detects movement on your own property.

There’s a free option, which doesn’t save any footage, or £2.50 a month to save footage.

I love mine, really useful and gives me peace of mind that my car and caravan aren’t being tampered with etc as it would alert me.

Thank you 40something! Is there room for a micro SD card or is it strictly pay for footage?

I'm not sure what the point would be of not having the footage if it's to do with security? I'm using netvue just now from inaide and it's been ideal apart from being so obtrusive in the window.

Check out the Eufy system, better than the Ring system and no subscription either.

We’ve got the Eufy one - it’s great and you can set the sensitivity so it won’t alert you to every single movement up the Street etc. No subscription, I get alerts on my phone and it’s all linked up to Alexa. DP fitted it and I set it all up, dead easy.
