A really sweet side effect of the lockdown

Been for quite a few walks this past week in the better weather and have noticed loads and loads of quite young children riding their bikes in parks without stabilisers.

They've obviously spent time learning to ride their bikes in the lockdown. I know most children eventually learn but these chilldren are really small like 3 or 4.

I thought it was sweet anyway.

My ds learnt in April last year. He had previously had no interest. Him and ds 12 got a new bike (gumtree!).. Ds 5 also tried skates. Not as keen!! Also got a skateboard for his 6th birthday in Sept.. Bloody death trap!!
Ddogs learned to hate it very quickly!

I’ve thought this as well. Also children on scooters and generally exercising. I’m not a parent so don’t see it as much before the lockdown walking.

As someone that is partially sighted it is important that parents supervise while they learn to stay on one side of the path and slow near pedestrians. (I know a lot of adults including fast walkers, runners and cyclists also need to learn this skill!). I’ve found that generally slightly older children in my area have been great at taking distancing seriously.
