If you haven’t heard of the #Stop the stink campaign but have noticed the increasingly foul, gassy odour depending on which way the wind blows, here’s what you can do :
Report, report, report to the Enviroment agency and Public Health England. Join the Stop the stink campaign on facebook.
It’s affecting the lives of thousands of residents, the landfill site is owned by a company headed by a convicted criminal - it’s gone from only taking 250,000 tons of inert waste such as rubble to 400,000 tons of anything, animal carcasses etc. from all over the country. The ex quarry is now a huge mountain and is a blot on the landscape without the added stench.
There is an extraordinary Council meeting coming up to try and shut them down but as the Enviroment agency let them off a £1.5m fine for polluting the Trent and killing thousands of fish with cyanide, we need sustained pressure, it may even need to be a legal case. Our local MP and the Council head are involved, they live locally and experience the same appalling conditions as the rest of us.

Was born near the quarry but thankfully live 85 miles away now but my family are around Burslem area. They can smell it from there when the wind blows that way.
