And his obsession with Meghan Markle.

Good. Piers Morgan is obsessed with her. And Alex called it right.

America won't have him back.
He left there with his tail between his legs

Encyclo · 11/03/2021 12:04

He won't go back to America. He's anti-gun and now anti-Trump, so the righting crowd hate him. The CNN crowd rejected him already so he's not welcome back there either.

The thing with PM though is that he never gave people a chance to answer. He just yelled more questions at them or interrupted them when they started speaking.

Exactly. Even when PM has been interviewing people I loathe, I found it really unsatisfactory because he would never let them reply properly so they could justifiably claim they hadn't been allowed to speak. It's terribly easy to sound tough by just shouting over the person you're interviewing; but a good interviewer does their homework, let's the person reply, then quietly takes their reply apart.

Absolutely He basically let these politicians get off scot free by not allowing them to speak. All they had to say is that he wouldn’t allow them to speak .This is why I am baffled by the claims that he held politicians to account, he did no such thing. He is a lazy journalist is playing at being a populist

I would say that's good news, but it means we are stuck with him now. lol

How could someone with so many contacts in the mental health industry claim to have no-one to call. Her husband is a prince and yet she had no advice. Princess Diana went to private complementary medicine practitioners to sort her health issues herself. Why could MM not have had the ownership of her issues to deal with it herself? Piers Morgan is merely questioning the validity of the comments and we should all be open-minded about intention of allegations. Her white family was completely excluded from the wedding for various reasons, but begs the question. The timing itself is completely questionable. World in pandemic with losses rampaging all over. I do not agree with Piers Morgan often and his rant was over the top, but his questioning of the truth was absolutely correct for journalism.
One thing I would never do is question why people with mental health issues did / did not take various steps Some have even suggested that she should have called her mother. I love my mother and we are extremely close. However, if I had mental health issues I would not tell her. Not because I don’t trust her, but because I wouldn’t want her to worry about me. In Meghan’s situation she was in another country, being lambasted daily by the likes of Piers Morgan and she had a young child. She probably didn’t want to upset her mother who was probably devastated by what was happening to her daughter . Just because she is beautiful, accomplished and intelligent people seem to have little sympathy for her.

Btw- Doria has been the epitome of Grace, class and dignity

CrunchyBiscs · 11/03/2021 12:40

What I can't square is PM feeling fully entitled to carry on his denigrating /calling out/ criticising / sneering of - well just anyone

He's made his point - he thinks she is a liar/ social climber god knows what else but to carry this to the nth degree to do what - totally destroy the woman - I know the less caring will say she deserves what she's got but really ??????? There are paedos, murderers, domestic abusers out there but somehow this woman deserves all the vitriol that PM can pour onto her and all on as big a global stage as he can muster.
I'ts sadistic imv.

But, oh, I forgot - our media aren't bigoted - not much

longwayoff · 11/03/2021 13:57

Please stop describing PM as a journalist, their reputation is bad enough already. It may say journalist on his passport but he's a TV presenter at best. Or was.

ancientgran · 11/03/2021 14:09

Spot on. We have a liar governing our country. Now that is a worry.

It's funny how Boris lying is just accepted now, its just normal isn't it. He opens his mouth, he lies.

Piers is an arsehole but you saying he's not a journalist is ludicrous. Granted he hasn't worked for the Guardian, the MN truthteller. Morgan began his career in 1989 in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several British tabloids, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.[1] From 2006 to 2007, he was the editorial director at First News. On television, Morgan has hosted his own talk shows Piers Morgan's Life Stories (2009–present) and Piers Morgan Live (2011–2014), co-presented the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain (2015–2021) with Susanna Reid, and judged on the talent competition shows America's Got Talent (2006–2011) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–2010).[2][3][4] In 2008, he won the seventh season of the US Celebrity Apprentice.[5][6] Morgan has written eight books, including four volumes of memoirs.

I don’t think occupation is on passports.
cuparfull · 11/03/2021 14:57

@Sparklingbrook

It appeared a bit set up to me.
Definitely set up. He's been looking p....ed for some time now. He tired....arent we all!

However I tho I don't often like what he says, I will defend to the end his right to say it. Tooo many precious petals about these days taking offence at every turn in this cancel culture!

itsgettingwierd · 11/03/2021 15:55

@Sparklingbrook

See this is where I disagree with you

See I am one of those that think it was all set up anyway, and not what it seemed. It's always Kate and Ben on Thurs/Fri IIRC. PM and SR did Monday to Wednesday.

It's usually Ben and Susanna on a Thursday because she's always called it therapeutic Thursdays!

Unless she alternated and isnt always on?

I would t blame her for taking some time away. I think it's unfair people have taken against her for not stopping PM. She did defend her views and he shit her down so many times.

What's the biggest shame in all this is he can hold people to account but he stopped being able to do it rationally.

itsgettingwierd · 11/03/2021 16:01

The thing that matters the most with "freedom of speech" is that

With rights comes responsibility.

Everybody had the right to freedom of speech. You then have a responsibility to make sure that you use it responsibly.

Trump, Hitler, Saddam Hussain all had the right to freedom of speech. I'm not user many people would suggest they had the right to use it as they did?

HmmmmmmInteresting · 11/03/2021 16:13

@Mrsjayy

He was sacked from.cnn wasn't he ?
He was sacked from pretty much every job. Failing upwards each time.

He'd made himself an enemy of the right by turning on Trump and all the pro-lockdown and 'Covidiot' stuff he's spouted over the last year.

He's trying to position himself as anti-woke and a free speech campaigner and anti-Meghan so there won't be a backlash from the Right when he pitches up on GB News.

User133847 · 11/03/2021 16:41

Sounds like the Prime Minister.

I read an article comparing them to each other yesterday Grin
longwayoff · 11/03/2021 17:30

Thanks for the resume. Didnt realise PM had changed agents, not surprising, I guess, given the current circumstances. Happily, I have neither wish nor intention to give him employment. Perhaps forward to Andrew Neil or Breitbart, they'll have far more use for it than I.

I know it's ironic how both PM and Trump all dislike each other - yet are not so dissimilar to each other in on so many ways!
itsgettingwierd · 11/03/2021 18:07

Both PM's that should have said. Teach me to try and lazy write as I cocked it up!

Lampzade · 12/03/2021 08:16

Apparently, Robert Rinder aka Judge Rinder is being considered for Piers’ job
That would be a brilliant choice and Susanna would be thrilled as she is close friends with Robert Rinder
ITV could have Robert and Susanna Monday to Wednesday. Ben and Kate/ Ranvir/ Charlotte Thursday and Friday . Holidays could be covered by Ben /Alex/ Sean and Charlotte/Ranvir

Always found it very odd that Susannah basically sat there and just accepted his ranting. She never really stood up to him like Alex did did she?
I bet she’s delighted

Mummy195 · 12/03/2021 08:30

I see the Head of Society of Editors, Ian Murray has also resigned after denying racism in the media. A bunch of journalists wrote a complaint.

The trash is taking itself out.
www.theguardian.com/media/2021/mar/09/society-of-editors-claim-uk-media-not-racist-laughable

Here he is being torn a new one by a calm Victoria

Roussette · 12/03/2021 08:51

Judge Rinder? Shock
I have nothing against the bloke, really liked him on Strictly but..

Why on earth don't they get a proper journalist? It just makes it more of a magazine show than a morning news show. Their choice, can't cope with the adverts in the morning, so won't be watching.

@Mummy195

As for that link, I knew he was bad I just didn't realise how bad. Shocking shocking shocking. What an awful man and thank god he's gone.
Even when confronted with the evidence he denies it and seems totally out of his depth. Good riddance
