And his obsession with Meghan Markle.

Good. Piers Morgan is obsessed with her. And Alex called it right.

Good. Hope their shares turn to junk and they go bust

Unlikely.

Couldn’t care less

I think it's really interesting that him leaving could have that effect. That's why I posted.

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2021 20:39

Lord Sugar tweeted this when asked what was going on with PM

pushed his luck. I think he might have something else lined up watch this space

I wouldn’t be surprised if Piers had mental health issues . He has definitely become more unhinged . It is a sad sight to behold tbh

dopenguinsdance · 10/03/2021 20:43

I'll admit that I've never watched GMB or been remotely interested in Piers Morgan's opinions on anything, but I was still left open-mouthed by Dame Carolyn McCall (ITV chief executive), saying that she “completely believed what [the duchess] says." So much for critical thought, analysis or debate. Still, I'm not going to start bleating about it Wink

I think he has a great life. I think he was fed up doing the same old show and getting up early in the morning. He wanted to go out on a bang for maximum attention.
Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2021 20:45

I don't think he has. I think he just over egged the character that he had become on GMB. I don't know which thread because there's been so many but I likened it to Keith Lemon/Leigh Francis. Like he was playing a part because he knew that's what people expected. He was hired to be controversial and he delivered.

LolaSmiles · 10/03/2021 20:46

But his view of her took away any professional approach because he was so full of dislike of her, he couldn't be a rational front man for the morning programme
I've just said his gripes with her led to an emotional outburst instead of reasonably challenging the couple.

There was a lot worthy of being challenged in that interview and many valid criticisms to make of the couple. It's a shame that instead of doing that, he over emotionally dismissed the whole thing out of spite towards Meghan, and consequently ended up in hot water for the impact of his dismissal on those with mental health issues.

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2021 20:46

I agree derxa.

Agree.

We had some great discussions in the staff room (well hall at tables far apart and distanced Grin) the past few days about this.

Firstly what was in media after aired in USA. Then our thoughts following actually watching the interview and PM flounce. Then today about his leaving.

Many different views but we all felt heard and all managed to get our view across. Not screaming and shouting doesn't mean your opinion isn't heard or even validated in some people's mind.

derxa · 10/03/2021 20:58

@Sparklingbrook

I agree derxa.
I'm glad someone does Grin I think it's ridiculous that I feel I'm walking on eggshells for admitting that I watch a daily news programme on a mainstream channel. I watch all the news programmes on terrestrial for balance. If MN had its way we would only be allowed to watch CH4 News

Unlikely.

Well the shares are down 60% over the last five years. Thought shares were meant to go up
Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2021 21:01

I am getting very confused as to what MN allows any more derxa, it's getting very tricky lately. I think we are supposed to be not watching any ITV as a protest. Grin

Roussette · 10/03/2021 21:08

People can watch what they want surely?!

I watch all sorts but adverts in the morning and Piers used to get on my nerves so avoided that.

luluw41 · 10/03/2021 21:15

I personally felt the whole thing was staged. Why would Alex go off script with his own attack on Piers if it wasn’t actually not off script. I’ve seen him rattled before and he was way too calm as it was rehearsed. I reckon he’s lying low til it’s all brown over. Mark my word Piers will be back when it’s all blown over. Watch this space...

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2021 21:16

Well someone upthread said they wanted ITV to go bust. I quite like Long Lost Family so that would be a shame. Sad Grin

I am going to stick with Greg James I think. He's a good distraction.

Roussette · 10/03/2021 21:18

I didn't take that seriously, it's hardly likely what with advertising revenue etc!

I like Long Lost too... but need tissues at the ready always. Smile

  1. As a woman of colour you assume too much. I would not have ever traded places with her considering the racist abuse she suffered from the UK press.
  2. Minorities are not accepted everywhere clearly (Windrush Scandal, BLM marches, the litany of complaints because black people were in a Christmas advert, racialised reporting of MM).
  3. People of colour are not responsible for showing minorities they are accepted for obvious reasons

I watch it.

I watch GMB everyday.

I have been worried how far PM would go for months and he went too far the other day.

I think him leaving was far more to do with guests also calling him out and him not being able to take what he gives on his part.

He just didn't know when to stop. But I won't deny I've tuned in to see how far he'd go every day - I didn't think he'd take it as far as he did and he has been responsible for his own downfall in that respect.

keffie12 · 10/03/2021 21:29

@AliceLives2021

I feel for MM dad......

Just had a heart attack and H says it's his own fault ...... what the heck....

How awful

Thomas Markle with another daughter went and talked to the media! Spouting off about Megan and the royals just before they got married.

That cannot happen in the Royal family. It was never proved he had a heart attack and there was talk it was a cover up as there was no way he could come to the wedding after doing that.

Whether it's genuine or not you can't do what he did and talk about the Royal family with no consequences

He then went to the media with a private letter Megan had sent him asking him to stop what he was doing.

Daily Mail have just had to pay damages for printing it which is whom he talked too.

It's called responsibilities and consequences. No way would I talk to the press about any of my children whatever I thought they had done or not. I wouldn't have thought any decent parent would

The only one to keep a dignified silence through allthis is Megan Mom Doria Ragland. The media tried and got nowhere

ItsAllComingBackToMeNow · 10/03/2021 21:33

Well, I don’t watch this programme and never have, but what has surprised me is that there are programmes with than much tension and antagonism on at that time in the morning. Who knew.

Ddot · 10/03/2021 21:49

She had a bad time, she left, started new life, so why try to destroy your inlaws. I find talking about family in public distasteful. Her father has had no contact at all which is a shame. The racist things she said happened
are dreadful and should be addressed but some items were ridiculous eg crying about the wedding, anyone not had a meltdown just before getting married?. Not being able to leave the palace, that's for her safety. Morgan just turned into mr shouty man, yes he is entitled to his opinion but drowning out other voices is just rude. I think he needs a very long break

longwayoff · 10/03/2021 21:51

If I wanted a shouty man in the house over breakfast I would have stayed married. Piers is a pig. Good riddance to him.

NameWithChange · 10/03/2021 21:51

It's all been a set up. Piers has a bigger plan and walked off for the publicity.
