Juice plus - I'm not selling, or doing.

Just asking questions really. A friend has become a juice plus "ambassador ". Was not fat, and has now lost 22lbs in 6 weeks. It is ALL her Facebook feed us about. Really good, long time friend .

I have absolutely no desire to sign up, even though I need to lose weight. It must be brutal for her to have lost so much so quickly at an already healthy weight.

Has anyone done it and liked it? Carried it on for longer than a few months?

Are there REALLY any benefits? I just don't get it.

I'm not really keen to hear from current reps, more people who have bought and used (rather than sold) it.

I wonder if no one has ever dobe it or doesn't want to admit to it. Grin

My neighbour tried it last year and lasted less than 2 weeks. My. Cousin and aunt similar over a decade ago. I think the main barrier is it's not very nice!

Poppins2016 · 08/03/2021 22:29

I'm not entirely sure that anyone would be brave enough to confess to buying into a MLM on Mumsnet... Grin

Whatever it is, it'll be all hype and no substance.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/03/2021 22:31

She's probably lost half a pound and most of her friends.
Don't touch it with a bargepole and put her on restricted.

haveapieceoftoast · 08/03/2021 22:41

i have absolutely no desire to sign up

Doesn’t sound like it!

ImFree2doasiwant · 08/03/2021 22:50

@IHaveBrilloHair she really has lost a lot of weight, and doesn't look good for it unfortunately.

@haveapieceoftoast really? You think it sounds like I do? No, I really don't. I'd rather eat the fruit and veg than take capsules.

I'm just wondering what the outcome will be. She has loads of "friends" on Facebook (from her I the self employment) so is the ideal person to do it I guess. But it's all so public, I wonder what happens next. I don't know anyone else who's done it

I will admit l tried it for about 4 weeks, it’s really not good for you, when l gave up l put on about half of what l lost in the 1st week. Wait till she starts pushing the kids vitamins. Shocking. I’m sure stuff like this made one of the girls from Towie really ill.

EleanorLenor · 08/03/2021 23:20

I actually deleted a friend when she started selling the kids vitamins and claimed it solved her daughters ADHD issues ....

Don’t put money into any MLM , don’t let it burn on.

ImFree2doasiwant · 08/03/2021 23:39

@Solongtoshort already doing that. They appear to solve all sleep problems!

I know a person who's been a juice plus rep for many years, she's mostly doing recruiting it seems. But she's been using the products for the same amount of time and talks about weight loss but she's not lost any weight. Gained a bit but who hasn't.

Kljnmw3459 · 08/03/2021 23:44

I've had a friend who had some success with Slimming World. Although they've put the weight back on now.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/03/2021 23:45

Perhaps she has lost weight, but that's nothing to do with the shite she's peddling.

acatcalledjohn · 09/03/2021 08:27

She's lost weight not because of juice plus, but because of the severe calorie restriction. She'll probably have replacement shakes (about 200 cal each) and one meal a day (around 500 cal each).

She's essentially starving herself (900 cals is increasingly unhealthy) and paying through the nose for it.

Below article written by a qualified dietitian.

https://scimoms.com/juice-plus-review/

In the pictures the recommended daily sugar intake for a female according to the American Heart Association (25g) vs a prepared Vanilla shake from Juice plus (26.6gr).

acatcalledjohn · 09/03/2021 08:30

To add: there's about 11gr of sugar in 250ml of skimmed milk (which you mix the shake with. You mix it with 35gr of powder.

26.6gr total sugar - 11gr for the milk leaves 15.6gr. That means 45% of that powdered shake is sugar. Almost half. That is an insane amount of sugar.

BarbaraofSeville · 09/03/2021 08:32

Has she actually lost the weight, or is it part of the 'fake it until you make it' ruse?

I could also say I'd lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks, and create the FB feed to 'prove' it, but unless you've seen me on scales, you've no idea whether or not that's true.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 09/03/2021 09:58

I thought JuicePlus had died out a while ago along with the equally dubious Younique...my Facebook feed seems all about FM World and Body Shop....the sooner these scams are banned the better.

Bluewavescrashing · 09/03/2021 19:37

Juice plus is awful. The health claims the reps make are shocking.

ImFree2doasiwant · 10/03/2021 13:08

She has very definitely lost the weight. It's very apparent even on video/Facebook photos. She also does live weigh ins but honestly the videos are proof enough.

I'm.shocked there's so much sugar in it!

I got sucked in to this juice plus fad.. I started it last October.. and I've got to say its painfully expensive and its basically a juice diet.. if you stop with the shakes boosters and horrid soup even for a day you put the weight back on.. I'm still paying for it now and haven't even used them all. I've lost more weight doing it the proper way.. I say stay away from it. My ambassador lol 😆 was very pushy and tried to get me to buy the capsules
. She then tried to get me to join her group.. I was being bombarded daily with inspirational videos and quotes that she was getting off other women.. its all very fake and really doesn't work.. I will never buy into any fad diets again.
