Making Feta Goujons for the first time tonight, Any delicious suggestions of what might be nice to have with them?

How are you making them?
Breaded/battered and fried or as is?

If it's just feta on its own I love a simple salad. Made with rocket or mixed leaves, lots of cucumber and then beetroot. Cor, I could just eat that now.

doctorhamster · 08/03/2021 13:35

I don't know but tell me more about feta goujons...

VerityWibbleWobble · 08/03/2021 13:36

Put the feta goujons in the bin and have some nice chicken goujons with salad instead.

Feta is the work of the devil.

No use whatsoever, sorry Grin

A tabbouleh salad or a fattoush salad?

JackieakaBritney · 08/03/2021 13:38

@blancah receipe calls to stick em in a oven proof dish with some olive oil and bake in oven not fry - I did think salad but was also wondering if anything more substantial would work?

I tend to have feta-y things with a roasted pepper stuffed with cous cous, sundried tomatoes, olives.

CannotOperateOnThisFailure · 08/03/2021 13:40

Chips.

Or wedges.

cut potatoes into wedges with their skins on cover in cajun spice drizzle with olive oil and bake in the oven or if you have an actifry cheat and cook them in that for 30 minutes

Salad and either Cous cous or quinoa to bulk it out a little. Ooh and a dollop of cranberry sauce or onion relish on the side

Yum! I'd just have it with the remaining Greek salad ingredients on the side tbh.

WildCherryBlossom · 08/03/2021 13:48

Oooh that looks really good. After a year of feeding the children 3 meals a day I am sooooo bored of my own cooking. I think this might appeal to everyone. Adding more feta to next online shop now!

I think a tabbouleh salad would go well with this with plenty of mint. And maybe some lamb or chicken for the more carnivorous members of the family.

Yes I'll happily eat halloumi until the cows come home.

orangenasturtium · 08/03/2021 14:34

I would serve it with a selection of middle eastern salads possibly some warm salads as it's a bit chilly today!

I would go for something sweet to contrast with the salty feta. Honey roast tomatoes served warm with za'atar or thyme - just drizzle with honey and roast, cool, then sprinkle with the za'atar. Or Gordon Ramsey's carrot, cumin and orange salad.

Some kind of warm couscous/rice salad with roasted vegetables (butternut squash or aubergine) would make a good second salad. Ottolenghi's roast cauliflower and tahini salad would also work well.

Then something green and refreshing eg pomegranate and parsley salad or cucumbers dressed in orange flower water.

If you want potatoes, batata harra (spicy fried potatoes with peppers) could work.

I’m doing pita, hummus, halloumi, salad and Lebanese potatoes for dinner tonight. Most of that would work with your feta goujons I imagine.

JackieakaBritney · 08/03/2021 18:52

Just had them! Sorry inhaled them before I could take a photo, served with rocket salad and this cherry tomato recipe, was delicious!!
