eBay/PayPal help!

Feel like such a dummy! I set up a new eBay account with a new email address to sell some old clothes. Don't ask me why I didn't just use my normal account 🤦 anyway I sold one item. I had an email from PayPal saying I had received payment and to click the link to set up a PayPal account. I got halfway through the set up but my card is set to expire so I needed another other and I wasn't at home to sort it. I've just finished confirming/setting up the account tonight (after a lot of faff trying to sign in to the new email address) and the money is not showing in the PayPal account connected to my eBay account. I've already posted the item so really kicking myself now.

Do you think that now the account is fully set up that the money will appear?? Or have I lost it forever?

Thanks for any help!

If they never pay you then you can take out a claim against them. Have they paid and its not where you thought it would be or have they not paid? Its not clear from your post. Have you sent them a payment reminder?

PayPal told me the buyer had paid, and gave me their address details all in an email. That same email then said "click this link to set up your PayPal account..." But now I have set up the account the money/transaction isn't showing up

Have you checked that you have actually claimed the payment? With a new account you have to accept it (or used to).

I really hope the money shows up somewhere or other, I think it might. I’ve had mix ups as my eBay was linked to my bank account with old account details - then the cash showed in my bank account not PayPal. I hope something similar happens for you too

Was the message from PayPal or was it from ebay? My payments now go straight into my bank account as ebay have stopped using PayPal so it'd be worth keeping an eye on your incoming transactions for the next couple of days as it might just appear. Mine comes up as Adyen N.V. in my bank account.

Also, have you checked that you have put the correct e.mail address into PayPal? Often people make a mistake and spell it slightly wrong or put a full stop in the wrong place.

There is a contact section in PayPal, for help.

One other thing - did you not have an account already? You can use the same PayPal account on more than one Ebay account, just enter your e.mail addresses into the PayPal account.

There is a board on here for Ebay if you don't get enough answers here. There is also a section on Ebay if you scroll to the bottom of the page a click the 'community' link, lots of experienced people on there if you get stuck. (I am one of them).

@WhiteBricks - any luck?

Hi, yes just been on the eBay site and it says it is holding the payment because the postcode the item was delivered to doesn't match the buyers postcode. I sent it to the address I received via PayPal. Also the buyer has marked the item as received, so hopefully it will clear soon.

Honest to god I can not be bothered with this again!

@WhiteBricks

It might help in future to check the address on Google, and also look at the building it is going to on Google maps. I also send to the one in Ebay in case of a dispute as it appears in the end of auction/sale e.mail and can't be changed by the buyer.

There are problems from time to time but just try to pre-empt any misunderstanding by getting in there first and keep an eye out for thieves and scammers. I have been known to send cheap items by tracked post because of feedback left by other sellers as a warning. It means making less money but saves a lot of headaches.
