What to do with photos?

I am having a clear out and have loads of old photos going back years. Looking for ideas of how to store them? Sick of carting them around in an archive box!

Scan them onto a hard drive, then throw them out?

I scanned most of mine onto my pc and now store then in the cloud. Still have some left to do, not a quick job.
