Can anyone help please???
I have been in temporary accommodation 12 years. Still waiting for 3 bedroom need advice as the council say another 60 month wait or more. If I went private does anyone no if I can stay in band 2 on a waiting list or would i lose my place after all I have been waiting 11 years.

Depends on your local authority. In mine if you moved from TA to private you are classed as rehoused. You’re removed from the housing register and can’t re-apply for 12 months. The waiting time would then start again, the 12 years accrued would be lost. Google your local authority’s lettings policy.

Where do you live?

I would suggest ringing the council because of you have children they will have left home before you were rehoused

It's under Hammersmith and Fulham I spoke to housing options and they said I could stay on the register as long as I find a place in that borough. Was shocked as wouldnt everyone do that find there own place why waiting. Just so confused with it all.
