Scottish lockdown in late may/early June

Hello I was wondering if some Scots can tell me what the Scottish lockdown rules will be from 29 may to 4 June (the English may half term)?

We're in Cumbria but visiting Aberdeenshire then and wondering whether museums etc will be open. Can't really find a "Scottish roadmap" by Googling ....

Oh gosh, now I am jealous!

I'm desperate to get to the Turkish restaurant in Cockermouth also.

It's called Aspava, you need to go up a wee vennel to get to the restaurant but it's signposted from the main street.

Bumpsadaisie · 07/03/2021 15:28

Ooh yum! Will definitely try that.

We are all adults so I have no idea what the children's meals are like should they be required. Last time we could barely walk back to the car as we were so stuffed, such lovely staff too.

I'm not a big fan of turkish desserts so we didn't have any (but then we don't really do dessert regularly anyway) we just popped to the supermarket after and DSs chose cider instead of dessert - plan was to get an ice lolly:)

If any one has any recommendations for where some culture and foodie starved numpties from Cumbria could eat out in Aberdeenshire or Dundee - much appreciated!

I wonder why.

OP, we do not know.

Yeah, there's not one.

It's basically Saint Nicola of Covid deciding, and nobody knows how her brain works.

Basically, take whatever England / Wales / Northern Ireland are like at that point, and work backwards about 6 weeks.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/03/2021 17:30

My son is at uni in Aberdeen. There's a nice Turkish restaurant.... 😂

halfhope · 07/03/2021 17:32

If Aberdeen Art Gallery is open, you might enjoy that.

GintyMcGinty · 07/03/2021 17:34

Nicola hasn't decided yet.

If you're ever in London do try Gallipoli on upper st in Islington ... it's a (wait for it) Turkish restaurant ...

@WaxOnFeckOff

Do ya know any Turkish restaurants in Leeds, Bradford, Skipton or points along the A65 or M62 by any chance? I'm arranging a meet up of old friends from parts diverse and I really want Turkish now!

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 07/03/2021 18:13

I've never been in any of those areas unfortunately.😔😔

We don't have any local to us either which is why we tend to try to find one when we are away anywhere. My DH reacts badly to the security scanners and because you need to do several in Turkish airports, we've not been able to for many years. Amazing country and lovely folk and delicious food.

theotherfossilsister · 07/03/2021 18:35

Lovely to meet you too. I used to work in Booths in Kirkby Lonsdale as a teenager. Lovely lovely food they have there.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/03/2021 18:39

We usually go up to Scotland twice a year and haven't booked a thing as I'm scared the border will close.

Weve stayed in Aberdeenshire - can I recommend a drive down to Dunnotar Castle for a visit - then stop off at The Bay fish and chips on Stonehaven beach. Delish!

ssd · 07/03/2021 18:40

@Bumpsadaisie. I'll tell the jokes.

Figgygal · 07/03/2021 19:51

I’d love to know too
Haven’t been home to Aberdeen since Xmas 2019 - not seen family or friends my mum not seen her grandkids etc
As we south England we have to fly and stay at their house just can’t book anything at the moment

Agree with pp dunottar is lovely
The Turkish restaurant might be the nargile which yes is lovely

ParisWasWonderful · 07/03/2021 20:27

Is it Rendezvous at Nargile? They have decking outside - maybe that will be open.
Kiosk cafe at Hazlehead is open for coffee followed by a lovely walk

Travis1 · 07/03/2021 20:44

Well after today’s scenes in Glasgow I don’t think we’ll get out of tier 4 even when things do lift. Bellends

OP, some recommendations of some independent rather than chain places.

Adults for a treat - in Aberdeen, Moonfish Cafe (ex masterchef chap I think?), Number 10, Tippling House and I've heard good things about the newish Sandman Hotel for cocktails etc.
In shire, Eat on the Green at Udny is award winning for bistro Scottish.
Kildrummy Inn is also excellent.
Meldrum House has those outdoor heated "domes" for "dining under the stars".

More family orientated - yes absolutely recommend the Bay at Stonehaven, features in Lonely Planet best food guide, just great fresh fish n chips and nice view of the sea while you eat.
There are various Brewdogs around which are reasonable for a craft pint and a burger.
Smoke and Soul and Maggie's Grill both do great BBQ style food.
Food Story do good vegan and healthy food.

Tons of nice little independent coffee shops - Aberdeen - Cognito (various sites). Almondine for French macarons.
Shire - Coffee Apothecary excellent coffee.

Recommend you look up the Foodie Quine food blogger for more recommends of great local and independent places.

Rangers have won the Premiership.

Fans have been celebrating. Hmm
