Why are you buying your teens BB guns, air rifles and catapults?

The wild life in my area are being murdered by teenagers, teens killing Swans and other animals. Why are parents buying these weapons?

What area are you in?

12 yo DS begged and begged for a BB gun. I'm quite permissive about some things. He was surprised it really was a no.

I don't understand it either.

Because some parents are twats. Others teach them to use guns and other weapons responsibly.

We are in a fairly affluent area in the South East (UK). I know kids are bored but this is awful, Swans, squirrels, ducks etc

Because some parents are irresponsible. Luckily they're easily avoided.

This is my pet hate too. Such shit parenting

My 18 year old bought a bb gun off his own back. I was so upset. He knows how we feel about guns and i just couldn't understand why he wanted it. He shoots targets stuck to the garden shed and only uses plastic pellets, never metal. Still makes me feel nervous. I expect parents who let younger teenagers have them don't realise the harm they can do. Either that or they are just shit parents who don't care what their kids are up to.
