Marmite hummus

Is possibly the worst thing I have eaten in a long time. I love both but together it's just so wrong. I'm genuinely surprised I don't like it as I like anything else marmite. But more shockingly DS 15mo loved it Grin even though he only had a little as it was quite salty. Not sure what to do with the entire tub that's left. I hate food waste but it is just nasty.

It sounds vile and I love both too - separately!

StillDumDeDumming · 06/03/2021 13:18

It's disgusting and I love all things marmite. I felt lied to

WideLegJeans · 06/03/2021 13:49

I quite agree

If your DS liked it, could you freeze it in an ice-cube tray so that he could have a little bit occasionally?

nogooddeedgoesunpunished · 06/03/2021 13:53

I'm with you . I love Marmite and I love hummus but this ... revolting !!

haggistramp · 06/03/2021 14:01

I'm sure it tastes as bad the marmite lynx I jokingly gave ds for Xmas smells 🤮🤮

GoryGilmore · 06/03/2021 14:08

Is it as bad as the marmite peanut butter? I love both of those too (and will happily combine them in a sandwich) but the product they made was just nasty.

capercaillie · 06/03/2021 14:09

I love it!!

CatRatSplat · 06/03/2021 14:09

Tried it I it just was a bit wrong, Marmite hot cross buns are lovely though!

WideLegJeans · 06/03/2021 14:16

My m&s still don't have them in... Assuming they sold out of them. The lynx also sounds vile. The peanut butter I liked.

Can you freeze shop bought hummus?

Branleuse · 06/03/2021 14:23

i quite liked it, although I havent re-bought, but I think it was quite good as a replacement sort of cheese spread in a sandwich when i was doing veganuary. Really good umami flavour

whatswithtodaytoday · 06/03/2021 14:25

It was just salty hummus, as far as I could tell. Not enough Marmite flavour to make it worth buying, and waaaay too salty.

marmitecravings · 31/03/2021 15:16

Marmite Lynx!?!

ReverendRicketyCricket · 31/03/2021 15:55

I know this isn't AIBU but you are being so very unreasonable that I don't know what else to say.
I thought I'd hate it. I love it. I could sit and eat a whole tub. With a spoon.
Likewise the Marmite cream cheese.

Mydogisagentleman · 31/03/2021 16:13

I love both.
I did not love that.
I am equally disappointed with the chilli marmite, although it isn’t stopping me having it on toast right now

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 31/03/2021 16:15

I loved it! I was quite surprised because I was excited about the Marmite peanut butter and really didn't like it, and I thought this would be the same but it was delicious!

CongealedCrags · 31/03/2021 16:16

My brother said it was absolutely wonderful and I should love it. My brother, however, doesn't have any children and so didn't tell me it would look like I was smearing the contents of a nappy all over my toast.

floofycroissant · 31/03/2021 16:19

It's grim and that's coming from a salt lover! A friend has recommended the marmite peanut butter, but I'm now dubious. Hmm

idontlikealdi · 31/03/2021 16:23

I'd rather my own peanut butter / marmite ratio - its not quite teh same from jar. I like to add cream cheese too so I'm probably not their target market!

SkankingMopoke · 31/03/2021 18:49

I also love both Marmite and Houmous (separately). DH brought home a tub as a gift for me. It certainly wasn't the lovely treat he thought it would be: absolutely vile. I agree OP, and with those who found the peanut butter nasty too. I wonder who taste tests these things sometimes.

DragonPoop · 31/03/2021 19:06

I agree, I love hummus and I love marmite but marmite hummus is disgusting! It went straight in the bin.
