Work email iphone settings

Does anyone know how I can mute my work email account out of hours so the notifications don’t show on my mail app and the emails don’t show in my “all inboxes” on iPhone? I would y mind it being visible to check purposefully if I want to but would like to not see work messages whenever I open mail app

Sorry, *wouldn’t mind

Why is your work email on a personal phone? If you wfh on a tablet or PC could it just be visible on them?

You should not be checking work emails out of hours in any case.

LemonadeBudget · 06/03/2021 12:48

I disable Fetch notifications so my inbox doesn't update unless I go into it.

Don't know if you can have different settings for different email accounts though sorry. I'm a red dot phobe so I have it for all.

Could you install Outlook and only have your work account set up in that?

ExponentiallyDepleted · 06/03/2021 12:53

If you go into Settings, Notifications, mail you can adjust settings for each mail account individually, but I don’t think you can stop them appearing in All inboxes. I just go straight to the account I want, never use All Inboxes.

Use a different mail app for your work email.

DottyWott · 06/03/2021 13:01

Thank you all. I’ll try to install outlook and try that.
I know I shouldn’t be checking, that’s what I’m trying to avoid!! 😁 However, I’m part time and quite mobile at work (different sites, not always a pc handy when I want to send quick message) so it’s handy to have access on my phone. I want it convenient for me but not intrusive. Ideally I don’t want the red dot telling me there are new work emails, just personal ones.

I use a different mail app for my work emails and turn off notifications on it out of hours. I was strict with myself for a bit and got out of the habit of checking the inbox, and now it works well Smile

ExponentiallyDepleted · 06/03/2021 13:06

Yes, I use Gmail for a volunteer role so I have that in its own app, not the main mail one. I used to have one account in the Outlook app too, but found it a bit clunky.

ExponentiallyDepleted · 06/03/2021 13:07

If its just stopping the red dot counting work ones that’s easily fixed in Notifications.

maybelou · 06/03/2021 13:09

Definitely reccomend Outlook - it's an entirely separate app so you can totally ignore it when neededGrin

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/03/2021 13:10

I use the outlook app and don't have any notifications set up. I've only got it in case I'm keeping an eye on any issues as it saves logging onto my laptop.

DottyWott · 06/03/2021 13:10

Hmm outlook doesn’t recognise my work account details 🤔 Have put exactly same as details in iPhone mail app

Do work know you access work email on a private phone? We can chose to use a private phone for work to save having 2 mobiles but it has to be set up with strict controls etc from work side.

Flamingolingo · 06/03/2021 13:15

I have a separate work phone which I leave in the cupboard when I’m not working. Charge it Sunday night and then I’m good to go!

Throwntothewolves · 06/03/2021 13:27

I've got mine separately on outlook with notifications disabled. So unless I open the app I won't know if I have any emails

DottyWott · 06/03/2021 14:03

Yes work know. I’ll play more with the outlook app as that sounds like the best solution. Thanks all

Dh and I both have our work email via Outlook. I've got notifications switched off too so I can just ignore it when I want to.

DottyWott · 06/03/2021 14:10

@ExponentiallyDepleted thank you have just turned off notifications as you suggested! I was going through settings>mail rather than notifications. It will stop the red dots at least.
