Ready meal. How do you cook this in your house?

You have two identical microwave meals that take 4 mins to cook. Do you cook one at a time or put both in together and double the time to 8 mins?

One at a time.

QueenOfLabradors · 05/03/2021 19:34

One at a time.

WideLegJeans · 05/03/2021 19:35

If they have oven instructions I use the oven. However, if not then one at a time. I would serve the last one cooked to me as I like my food hot hot and DP isn't bothered so I'd just let his stand in the packaging for the duration of mine heating up.

One in for 2 mins then the other then the original one and then the other. So we serve up at almost the same time.

Never both in at once, and I'm not sure doubling the time is the right approach anyway.

katienana · 05/03/2021 19:36

One at a time, maybe give the 1st one an extra 30 seconds to rewarm it

Queenfreak · 05/03/2021 19:36
  1. Ready meals timings are always waaaay too cautious, so I would have cooked for 3 mins.
  2. I would have cooked both together for 4-5 mins then checked to ensure its all piping hot
safariboot · 05/03/2021 19:37

One at a time. I wouldn't normally be able to fit two at once in our microwave though!

Most ready meals taste better oven cooked, though I suspect it'll use more electricity.

Same4Walls · 05/03/2021 19:37

One at a time and if necessary give the first one to finish an extra 30 seconds whilst I'm serving up the second one.

Nightbear · 05/03/2021 19:37

2 for one
2 for other
2 for one
2 for other

Isababybel · 05/03/2021 19:37

How big is your microwave, youd have to stack them surely (which id say is a no as then youd be blocking the air holes on the bottom meal). Definitely do 1 at a time.

TierFourTears · 05/03/2021 19:38

I dont currently have microwave, but I wouldnt double the time.
I think I'd probably put both in for 4 mins, then check the temp, expecting to put back for another min or 2.

BaggoMcoys · 05/03/2021 19:39

I'd cook one at a time, and I'd eat the one cooked first as I don't like when food is served to me and it's boiling hot.

This. Whenever I follow ready meal instructions, the food comes out mushy and so hot I need to wait at least 10 minutes before I can eat it. By that point it's even mushier. I'd put both in for 4 mins and then check regularly to see if it's done.
CoffeeRunner · 05/03/2021 19:40

You don’t just double the time for 2!

I’d cook them separately but even if they were going in together, doubling the time would be way too much.

amymel2016 · 05/03/2021 19:40

Both together for 8 minutes

ChameleonClara · 05/03/2021 19:41

Haven't owned a microwave for about 12 years so can't remember!

Ladybird69 · 05/03/2021 19:56

Omg 🤣 even more confused now. My micro is big enough to place side by side. Hmmm I’m going to cook both for 6 mins give them a stir and back on for 2! It’s beef so not too worried. Thanks for all your advice
