Anyone here German or living in Germany?

We know a lovely man who is originally from Germany but has been living in our home town for 40 years. He regularly gets German newspapers and enjoys reading them, both to catch up on news from home and also to read in his native language.

He's going to be 70 soon and we'd like to get him a gift. I was thinking that it would be great to get him a copy of the front page of a national newspaper from the day he was born. I know that's a 'thing' here but not sure if it's something we could get in Germany.

I'd be so grateful if anyone knows if that's possible and could point me in the right direction if it is Smile

This, maybe?

It is definitely not a thing in Germany.
Do you know where he was born/grew up? If so you could google for the local paper and see if it existed and whether there are archives etc.
