Private medical - last minute cancellation due to symptoms

FFS I am so upset. I've had a medical problem for some time that no doctor has taken seriously. I can't really afford it, but finally bit the bullet and booked a private appointment for first thing tomorrow. Within the last hour I've come over very hot and sweaty and my chest feels tight - I don't need to say more do I. There's no way I can attend this appointment tomorrow, I'll need to head for the testing centre instead. I obviously want to rearrange the appointment not cancel it. But in the letter it states that cancellations within 48 hours of the appointment will be charged in full. In the circumstances, is it likely that I'll have to pay? I can hardly afford this one appointment, and if I have to pay for not attending then there's no way I'll be able to save that money again any time soon. Feeling so gutted.

It's worth asking but you will probably have to pay. It's all about the money with private healthcare.

Phone them and ask can you attend , if they cancel you it's not
Your fault

Do you think how you are feeling now is as a result of anxiety/panic about the appointment tomorrow?

Bitsofffluffeverywhere · 04/03/2021 19:38

It may well be that @Orangesandlemons82.
I'm just not sure I could go without being 100% sure. Very good shout @Carriemac, I will take that approach. Thank you Smile

Check your temperature first.... you may just be hot and sweaty.

Orangesandlemons82 · 05/03/2021 13:21

@Bitsofffluffeverywhere what did you do in the end? I hope you either felt better or they rearranged the appointment.

Bitsofffluffeverywhere · 05/03/2021 14:50

Thanks for asking @Orangesandlemons82. Unfortunately I think I've got covid, waiting for test result and feeling pretty rotten. I called first thing and the hospital were really nice about it, I've got another appointment for three weeks time Smile
