I’ve been watching lots of cake decorating videos to try and get the best tips for decorating cakes

Lots of piping bags I’ve seen seem to disposable ones.

Why?

Why do they use one use dispoble bags when there are so many reusuable ones available?

Is it because they are better? Easier to use?

Because they're a pain in the arse to clean afterwards probably

Yup, that. ☝🏻

Precisely!

Is that all?

I bought a latex one that seems to be easily cleaned.

I’ve used it several times now and cleaning never seems to be a problem. Takes a bit longer to dry though

I use a cloth one. Occasionally one made from a rolled up cone of greasproof paper if I can’t find the proper one. I had a one that was like a big plastic syringe but it was sore on my hands to use.

If you're watching videos, it's because they are clearer on camera, especially if they are using multiple colours.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 04/03/2021 18:05

I had the latex one from Lakeland...it was shit for anything even a tiny bit stiffer than whipped cream

I use the disposable ones, or will make a paper one if it is just a small amount of icing.

Soubriquet · 04/03/2021 18:35

I got this one from Amazon, which is working well, but I think the disposable either looks easier, or the cake makers make it look easier

Because they’ve got bloody teenagers who vaguely rinse them out them leave them crumpled in a corner somewhere so their mum can find them and gag horribly at the festering mould lurking within, and then chuck the equivalent of a fiver in the bin? But I’m not bitter, honestly.
