waiting for a NHS phone consultation but they are 2 hours late - do I phone them?

I was sent a letter saying that a telephone appointment had been made with a consultant midwife today at 12.30 to discuss complications in my pregnancy (nothing serious). They still haven't called - should I call the department and ask if I should re-arrange or check that they have my phone number correct? or should I wait it out today and give them a call tomorrow? All the letter says is that they will call me on the number they have on record for me and gives me the department number if I want to cancel.

Ring them up

After 2 hours I think I would call.

They should have called you by now. I assume 12.30 would be the morning session so should have finished by now.

Be your own advocate, give them a ring. You'll be annoyed if you get another letter telling you you missed an appointment or similar

Another vote to ring them

I’d give them a quick call OP. I had a phone consultation a few weeks ago with my cardiologist and he was nearly 4 hours late calling me (I 100% accept that he was busy, it’s not a dig!) I just wish I’d called cause I could have carried on with the jobs I had to do that day, rather than lingering around the landline for hours!

Thanks all. Feel silly for asking here rather than just calling but I was worried about time wasting. Anyway, I called and they had moved my appointment months ago without telling me - thankfully to a date in the future!

I was due to receive a telephone consultation on May 14 2025 from my consultant surgeon scheduled for 14.50. Asked to be available 30 m either side. No call. I rang bookings who called the department and reported back that the consultant had a mixed clinic of F2f and telephone that day and told me to wait. At 8pm I gave up. I checked the settings on my mobile and had the landline to hand. Very frustrating and confusing. Communication comes via the NHS Dr Doctor app but no mention that call has been cancelled. Not sure what to do. 😕
