Favourite and least favourite season

Was talking about this with DC yesterday and got me thinking, I wonder which the most/least popular season is.

My Favourite - Spring

-both my DC were born in Spring
-I married in Spring
-I love the flowers like daffodils and blossom on the trees. I think it's a pretty time of year.
-The weather can be quite nice, I know not all the time but it warms up a bit.
-Easter...chocolate 🍫

My least favourite - Summer

-It can get too hot for me, I don't enjoy the heat.
-Feeling sweaty a lot of the time as a result of the heat!
-Not knowing what to wear as I hate showing too much of my body. Evidently the topless men walking around don't have that problem. I hate that too.
-The neighbours and houses over the back of us all blaring out music in their gardens and having BBQs every day. Starting around 3pm and going on til 11pm. The washing smells of BBQ if I'm not quick to get it in and the music is annoying and means we can't sit in the garden for a quiet dinner and the children can't sleep!

Least favourite - Summer. That will never change.
Favourite moves between Autumn and Spring, depending on the year.

TisConfusion · 04/03/2021 06:52

@Howdthathappen Autumn is my second favourite. I never used to be able to choose between Spring and Autumn but since both DC being born in Spring its now Spring for me.

Think I could have written your post tbh. Mostly the reason I love Spring and hate summer.

devildeepbluesea · 04/03/2021 06:53

I can never decide if Spring is my favourite, with the lovely flowers and anticipation of the coming summer or the Summer itself. On balance, I think Summer: I love the heat, the ability to spend 80% of free time outdoors (spoilt over previous 2 summers maybe!), the lifestyle.

I hate hate hate Autumn. All that wonderful heat ending, everything dying, dog,.mist, clouds. Yuk.

devildeepbluesea · 04/03/2021 06:54

Fog not dog. I love dogs.

Literallynoidea · 04/03/2021 06:54

Favourite: Spring. The flowers, the sun, the promise of summer.

Least favourite: Winter. Cold, gloomy and wet. Short days. Ugh

Howdthathappen · 04/03/2021 06:54

Ooh crossposted. See, we even have the spring/autumn thing in common. NiceSmile

@devildeepbluesea haha I love dogs too!
I love the different perspectives, how one person can hate summer and one can love it.

Actually just thought of another reason I don't like Summer - I burn easily. No matter what I do.

In order:

Autumn - can’t explain why but that first chill in the air after the summer and that indefinable Autumn smell make me feel really excited.

Spring - the feel of hope and new beginnings and the beauty of the world coming back to life.

Summer - if it’s warm but not too warm. Love long hot days outside enjoying the sun but in reality it’s often sweating on the way to work and avoiding the dicks with loud bbqs.

Winter - hate the cold, the damp and the darkness.

MadisonAvenue · 04/03/2021 07:07

Least favourite is Summer. I hate heat, have hayfever and I’m susceptible to insect bites which I react badly to.

Favourite is either Spring or Autumn.

TisConfusion · 04/03/2021 07:11

It's interesting how many times it is between Spring and Autumn. Maybe because neither have extreme weather? 🤔

Favorite: Winter. Much prefer to be cold and wrap up warm. Love frosty mornings.

I suffer badly with hayfever and eczema, both get really bad in spring/ summer. I hate being hot, sweaty and itchy. It's so uncomfortable.

KatherineJaneway · 04/03/2021 07:18

Favourite - summer, weather is better.

Winter - lots of grey and rain now.

Surreymum89 · 04/03/2021 07:25

I love all of the seasons at the beginning and then I'm bored of it and ready for a change by the end , I would say the end of winter and summer I'm a bit more keen to move to the next season than with autumn and spring.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 04/03/2021 07:32

I love a good hot summer, and loathe and detest winter. It's one of the reasons I emigrated to Oz. The thought of a UK/Irish winter makes me want to cry now, I've gone soft!

RampantIvy · 04/03/2021 07:37

Love, love, love summer. We don't have noisy neighbours, people don't play loud music in their gardens, it very rarely gets too hot where we live, I love the long, light evenings when it doesn't get dark until after 10 pm, I love not having to bundle up in winter clothes.

I hate winter, I hate having to wear several layers to keep warm, I hate the endless mud, I hate the short gloomy days, bright frosty days are pretty rare round here, I hate the low light levels, and suffer from SAD.

lollipoprainbow · 04/03/2021 07:40

Autumn favourite
Least favourite spring

MaryIsA · 04/03/2021 07:41

Live in the north west on the coast so in February and May can get amazing high pressure with blue skies and no wind. Love those kind of spring days. The blossom, there's a certain fresh smell in the air.

I love the outdoorness and light of summer, sitting outside in the evening, being able to go for a full long walk after work, or get in the gaden. But I burn and I don't do heat well I feel quite faint and sick. And get appaling hayfever. Winter and summer I tend to spend blotchy and slightly unwell looking.

Spring and autumn I look my best, feel my best. Love that freshness.

Carolina24 · 04/03/2021 07:41

Favourite: Autumn. I love the crisp cold days, the landscape melting into soft, misty colours with electric pops from the changing leaves. I love the lacy edge of frost on everything on a cold morning, love the harvest, love apple picking and cosy baking. I love the smell of smoke from people’s fires and hearty soups.

Least favourite: winter. I adore Christmas with my whole heart but once it’s over you still have at least two months of bitter cold, dark mornings and dark nights, mud everywhere, limited ability to enjoy the outdoors, having to pile on coats and boots every time you want to pop out. It’s a miserable drag of just longing for spring.

RampantIvy · 04/03/2021 08:33

I like crisp bright autumn days. Sadly, the reality where I live is usually dull and damp. Last year we did have a pretty decent autumn though.

TisConfusion · 04/03/2021 08:56

@Surreymum89 that's a good point about loving all the seasons at the beginning and then getting bored. I don't think I really get bored of Spring but I quite enjoy the transition between the seasons. Especially the end of Summer into Autumn. And Winter into Spring!

Favourite is spring by far. May is my favourite month of the year - warm days, pretty flowers, long evenings, lots of bank holidays Grin

Least favourite is winter. I don't like the cold.

TisConfusion · 04/03/2021 10:11

@Waxonwaxoff0 I forgot about the May Bank Holidays! Love May
