Strange night time noises

I’m just laying here reading a book on my iPad, DP is fast asleep and I can hear whistling from the other side of the room. (We have a large room) I’m used to hearing strange noises at night but the whistling 😗 has caught me off guard 😱

Is it whistling like someone whistling a song? Or just whistling noises like an old kettle?

‘Caught me off guard’ that made me laugh imagining you at peak relaxation whilst also being generally ‘on guard’.
My guesses - water pipe doing something small and private, window involvement, far off alarm so sound is distorted, your own breathing somehow causing odd noise?
You could prod your dh awake to help although o guess he may not appreciate.

Small gap in window frame where once in a blue moon when wind is in the right direction it catches it just right.

This. My study window occasionally utters this hair-raising banshee noise when the wind is from a particular direction, but because it’s not the prevailing wind, it doesn’t happen much and I forget about it and jump everytime.
