For me either a seafood risotto or a good quality steak with chips and mushrooms.

As long as I dont have to plan it , buy it , cook it and wash up, i would be happy with beans on toast .

idontlikealdi · 04/03/2021 08:05

I actually don't care what it is as long as I haven't planned it bought it and thought about it.

First will be probably be Thai or curry to keep the kids happy. Then I want to go somewhere really nice without them. Probably the next day!

I'm a good cook too Druid but not Michelin started good, with people to serve the food to me and my friends to be there.

Greenmarmalade · 04/03/2021 08:32

Yep- just to be waited on for once.

This. Eating out isn’t always about the quality of the food, it’s the not having to do it yourself.

Literally anything. They can serve me stale bread with water in a dirty glass and I’ll still probably hug the serving staff and talk to them so much that service for everyone else suffers.

We’ve got takeaway from some of our favourite restaurants, had a restaurant at home kit, DH makes a lovely steak and we’ve been using a butcher that supplied restaurants so good quality meat. We’ve even done meal kits to try different things. But I want someone else to cook while I sit and talk to DH. I want someone else to wash up. I want to walk in the kitchen after eating and it still be clean. I want to people watch. I want to eat something to DH. I want to watch a meal come out the kitchen, eye it up and feel envious that I didn’t order that. Until mine comes that is, then forget I ever had thoughts of another meal. I want to see someone that you kinda recognise and you should know their name but don’t so pray they don’t come and talk to you. I want to apologise to the serving staff because their menu is too long and I’ve been too busy talking to settle on what I want to eat. I want to persuade someone to go halves on starters with me so I get a bit of the halloumi and a bit of the pate because I want them both.

I no want to go to a Michelin restaurant. I don't know which one. I just want to eat really unusual food that I can't cook.

MaryIsA · 08/03/2021 16:23

I'd like to eat something different from my husband (obviously I can but it's easier if we both eat the same thing) .

I want to look at a menu and choose - and add a side order of chips that we don't need. To have a plate of lots of different things to share. I want someone else to have bought it, cooked it, bring it to the table - where I'm eyeing up a second glass from a bottle of wine - clear it all magically away.

I want to think - maybe pudding - but actually cheese. And a cup of tea. And to people watch.

A tuna carpaccio starter I had in the Ivy almost exactly 1 year ago.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/03/2021 16:25

I know I rave about The Kitchin a lot, but there's a reason for that its amazing, and not at all stuffy.
Oblomov21
I can't recommend it enough.

"I expect some people will multi book tables over several nights to fill their boots."

Too right I will. Not eating at home for a fortnight

RubyFakeLips · 08/03/2021 16:42

Tempura green beans at Sushi Samba and a lychee cocktail. I’ll be eating alone and someone else will tidy up after. I might have to dragged out as I won’t want to go home.

iklboo · 08/03/2021 17:52

We made our own tapas yesterday. Worth all the faff.

Oblomov21 · 08/03/2021 19:03

Thank you Brillo, but Edinburgh is just too far, from the south coast.

Disfordarkchocolate · 08/03/2021 19:09

Nothing groundbreaking. I want to go to Wagamama.
