Help! What do I want for my birthday?

If it was your birthday next week, what would you ask for? I'm late 30s with 2 young, difficult kids so don't have hobbies other than trying to sleep for longer than 5-6 hours per night Hmm
Thinking of maybe a soup maker? I'm trying to follow slimming world so that could be useful, it just seems like such a middle-aged thing to ask for 🙈 Help me come up with something fabulous, please!

A designer lipstick to make me feel and look fab that I can apply in seconds.

Naom candles
Jewellery from wolf and badger
Something nice for garden as it’s where we will be for most of the summer
Nice wine/gin
Desmond and dempsey pjs

Some nice bath products, candles and wine? There is nothing more relaxing than a nice, peaceful bath which is candlelit.

Skin care products (a nice serum, moisturiser, cleaner etc.)

I’d go for the soup maker. I got a bread maker for my 40th from my friends and it was one of the best presents I’ve had.

If you weren't slimming I'd suggest a Velvetiser. I asked for one for my last birthday, and it's been brilliant. I've tried it with everything from extra rich to semi skimmed milk, and can't taste any difference. The Hotel Chocolat sachets are lower in sugar than ordinary chocolate, and you don't need to add any extra sweetening to them.

Monthly flower delivery subscription

Its not mine until September but never to early to drops hints ladies.
Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick duo
I will need more Coco Chanel Perfume & body lotion by then
I wouldn't say no to a Soup maker as it would give me extra time to myself enabling me to pamper myself.

It’s mine next week (over 50) considering asking for treadmill

SE13Mummy · 04/03/2021 16:32

It's mine next week too. I'd like some new trainers, bamboo socks, Lush showergel and books. There's a hobby item I'd like albeit as more of a family thing but it's £200-£300 so money towards it would be appreciated.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 04/03/2021 16:43

You should ask for whatever you'd like, and if that's a soup maker then so be it 🙂 You'll soon get over your "middle age gift" feeling when you're eating your tasty soups 😉 I had a rather nice stick blender for Christmas for making soup, and I love it. Wish I'd got one years ago.

For inspiration I go on Etsy and will ask for random bits of art or jewellery.

Velvetiser was the best present I ever received. Great for frothing just plain milk too, sachets can be made with water and just a splash of milk if dieting. I think I am going to ask for a really nice coffee machine for my big birthday soon. If you want a soup maker - go for it!!

My DH was 40 a few weeks ago and my dister bought him five minutes live online chat with a goat. A goat. It beeehhh'ed happy birthday to him.

murasaki · 04/03/2021 23:00

I find this question really hard (DP has just asked it) - I'm very aware he's only just back in work, and I've been on full salary wfh (while covering both our bills, in case you think I've bee living it up totally) so have saved on commuting and have bought anything I want. I'm at a loss.

I'm thinking of asking him for an iou voucher for a proper lovely restaurant meal when they are open, so he doesn't have to spend now. And maybe an addition to my jigsaw habit.

It's tricky though, as when I want something, I buy it, so am then out of ideas. For Xmas he got me a Private Eye subscription, which wasn't expensive, but was the last good idea that I had.

murasaki · 04/03/2021 23:01

Now I want a 5 minute chat with a goat!
