What date did your Y11 leave school lessons?

About 1000 years ago when I did GCSE we left school on the final day of your exams in May/June and never went back. Was this still the same pre 2020? Just wondering what will happen with this year's yr11 - do you think they'll stay in lessons to the very end to make up for lost learning? Or will they be set free once teacher grades are submitted?

Mine did GCSEs in 2017 and had a leavers assembly etc around the May half term point. That was the last time they were all together, just went in for exams after that.

In my school they usually go on study leave at spring bank half term and are then only back in for exams. They officially leave on the date of the final gcse exam, normally early to mid July.

Ive no idea this year...!

Well grades need to be submitted mid June, so I don't think they will be kept past then.

Define ‘lost learning’. My Yr11 class have worked through both lockdowns and are now revising as we’ve covered all content. Unless someone creates a new curriculum, this poor year group will be studying Macbeth and how to write a newspaper article for significantly longer then they need to. They’ll be bored out of their minds rightly so because it won’t have occurred to anyone in government that they won’t be learning new skills, just constantly repeating ones they already know for GCSEs they won’t be sitting.

Ds was year 11 last year. He finished on the 19th March. There was no teaching or anything offered online until the start of year 12 in September. So he had six months with nothing at all, nobody mentioned 'lost learning'.

Deadline for grades is June 18th so I'm thinking it might be as late as that but happy for it to be sooner (definitely not later!).

Where I work, they all have to attend as normal until the very last exam in June. They attend lessons but are just allowed to do independent revision. The last exam is usually a science one IIRC.
