RSI type wrist pain

Back in January I was hurriedly crocheting a blanket to send to my nephew in America for his 1st birthday. My left wrist (I'm right handed) started hurting a lot, so I couldn't continue it and it's still not finished (though for other reasons now). After a week or so I suddenly noticed, after a few hours of intense pain it had stopped!
I didn't think much more of it until a few days ago when the same ache started up again. It's not as bad as I have been resting it more, and I have also bought a wrist support to see if that will help.
I'm not sure why it started hurting this time, maybe because I was moving some cut up bits of wood onto our log pile, so not huge rounds of tree.
Is this something worth seeing the gp about, after a period of trying the wrist supports? The pain is more on the back of my wrist, and hurts if I put pressure on it ie blowing my nose, so that pushing action.
