Not woo but still woo

I’m a hopeful sceptic, who is never going to fully believe either way but I do love a woo thread, particularly the sort of glitch in the matrix style stories and premonition/coincidence. But something happened a couple of weeks ago that made me want to start a slightly different version – a not-woo woo thread.

What I’m thinking of is near-woo misses – stories that could have been spooky but turned out to have a perfectly rational end or explanation. I’ll start with my story that prompted this.

Currently trying to conceive DC 2. DC 1 is 3.5yrs and has never expressed any interest in a sibling. I’ve raised the subject directly with her a couple of time in recent months and she’s either ignored me or, on one occasion, said “No thank you” in response! So until a couple of weeks ago, she had no interest in another baby, and we obviously haven’t told her that we’re trying.

This is the weird bit. A week or two ago, she had just gotten out of the bath and was messing around with her towel when she suddenly stopped, put her hand on my stomach and looked up at me with a huge grin on her face. “There’s a baby in your tummy, mummy!” She then turned to DH and said “See Daddy – I want the baby in mummy’s tummy!”. She dropped her hand and went back to messing around and none of us mentioned it again. She knows babies live in tummies before they’re born but she’s never really been around anyone pregnant, so wouldn’t have a clue that my lockdown diet has given me a tum that in certain lights could resemble that of someone a couple of months along.

I confess I did get a bit excited and wondered if DD had some sort of prescience that had allowed her to sense the beginnings of her unborn sibling. TMI but this would have been just a couple of days post conception if she was right….but she was not. My period came on as normal and the journey to baby number 2 continues.

If I had been pregnant though, I can absolutely imagine telling the story of how DD knew before even a ClearBlue Digital could have told us the happy news!

Does anyone else have any near-misses with the occult to share?
