How long to put up with bleeding from pill? [angry]

So fed up. Currently on Desogestrel (a mini pill) and day 16 of bleeding. Cycles are typically 12-14 days, so basically a week-long bleed every fortnight. Last cycle was 23 days, so I thought things might be settling (this is my 3rd month of being on it) but now this nonsense.

Totally fed up. How long does one wait before throwing in the towel?! Great contraceptive btw, not having any sex as a result. But if that’s gonna be the case, might as well go for celibacy- at least I’d be feeling less disgusting all the time. Angry

I agree about DH and responsibility! We’re not sure we’re done with children though, so a vasectomy isn’t an option just yet, I don’t think.

Agree that men would never put up with this though!! DH is pushing for a coil, but I have that exact reservation- I won’t be able to get it taken out easily, under the current circumstances. And anyway, it’s an invasive if minor procedure and I don’t see why I should have to go through it if I don’t want to.

My periods as a teen were like clockwork, literally to the hour every 28 days. It was weird 😂

Now I’d say again around 26-30 days, 5 day bleed. I’d be happy with that on the pill.

I had the same problem, same with the injection and the implant gave me horrible hormone swings. Now using cerelle mini pill, so far seems ok but it's only been just over a week

I'm wondering the same thing been on the progesterone only pill been bleeding for 11 weeks now not sure weather to try hold out or just change

I was going to ask about this today, except I am on the combined pill. 3 months was perfect and then I have had spotting every day for a month. It's gross.
I can't have POP on its own - I need added estrogen and hence combined was suggested and I'm old (late 40s)

Think the only other type of mini pill to try would be norgeston

Do you take it at the same time everyday? I am on desogestrel and it took 6months for my body to settle into a rhythm and almost 12 before I think my body properly settled. (I never had bleeding as bad as you, but did have 14 day long very light bleeding sessions.

However, I found that taking it at the same time really helps. If I'm an hour or two late I get spotting a for a few days starting a day or too later.

I gave it 11 or 12 weeks before i stopped taking it. Ironically it was meant to be helping with heavy bleeding!
I'm intrigued as to why it doesn't work the way it should for some people. The mirena had a similar impact on me so it must be something to do with our hormones.
