My toddler ate play doh!

Not sure where to put this so apologies.

My 19 month old ate play doh this afternoon. We were sat on the floor playing with the play doh and when he turned round was chewing like he had gum in his mouth... Hmm I tried to scoop it out but he swallowed it... must have been 2 pinches not a whole tub.

I'm sure other toddlers have eaten it just wanted mainly to know if it is 'safe' well safe as can be that is Confused.

As long as he's not gluten intolerant I'm sure he'll be fine!

AfterSchoolWorry · 02/03/2021 14:27

He'll be grand.

minniemoocher · 02/03/2021 14:28

They all eat it! Doesn't taste nice so they do stop after a few tries. If your dc has allergies then there is that to consider

This takes me back, I used to love eating play doh. And tissue paper. 30+ years on and I'm still alive!

Same4Walls · 02/03/2021 14:31

He will be totally fine. I'm honestly just amazed he made it to 19 months before eating something unsuitable.

Fuckadoodledoooo · 02/03/2021 14:32

Mine did that at a playgroup once. He was potty training and proudly presented me with a multicoloured shit the next morning.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/03/2021 14:33

I used to eat everything. Play Doh, sponges, pens, everything. DD was the same.

Happy days.

pastabest · 02/03/2021 14:33

Makes their poo an interesting colour depending on which colour they sampled.

Warn anyone else who might be changing their nappy any time soon.

lunarlife · 02/03/2021 14:34

It is a rite of passage eating play doh.

safariboot · 02/03/2021 14:37

It's non-toxic. Mostly flour and water with colour and preservatives.

ScarfaceCwaw · 02/03/2021 14:37

You have an interestingly coloured poo ahead of you. Toddler will be completely fine. You may not depending on just how colourful the poo is.

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/03/2021 14:40

Dd did this too, she was fine. I also once caught her in the garden happily crunching on a snail!

Poppins2016 · 02/03/2021 14:42

Play doh is non toxic, he'll be fine! I don't think my DS has ever not sampled the play doh when he's played with it...

AGirlCalledJohnny · 02/03/2021 14:42

Lash some prune juice in him if you’re worried, he’ll be grand either way. They are obsessed with sticking anything and everything in their gobs

DriftGames · 02/03/2021 14:44

My 15mo ate paint yesterday like it was fucking soup. He'll be just fine Smile

PixieC · 02/03/2021 14:46

Thanks. The responses have made me laugh and feel better so thank you. It was white play doh do poo won't be that interesting Grin

If you can imagine the taste of Play-Doh, then you've eaten it too at some point, OP. Look around at everything. You'll know the taste of most things. Fortunately, Play-Doh is non-toxic, though your toddler might poo out a plate of stringy Play-Doh pasta in a few hours.
It's 3+ for a reason, OP. It's more of a choking hazard for your little one than anything.

Although yes he ate some he is always supervised with it but he done it so quickly. But thanks.

I'm sure mine played with Play-Doh before the age of 3+, OP. So I do apologise if I sound like I'm having a go (I'm not. I promise).

Kidssendingmenuts · 02/03/2021 14:51

He will be fine, if anything he will have rainbow poop 🤣
