so I got a text message from PO saying -
we tried to deliver your parcel, but it needs £2 paying on it.

  1. how did they get my phone number?
  2. Is this a parcel someone else has sent to me? (I don't remember posting anything recently!)
  3. How do I find out who it is from?
  4. The track and trace site on my phone won't open any of the 'help' questions.

anyone else had this? I don't wnat to fork out for somethign I don't want. Haven't ordered anything. Bit surprised they can contact my mobile number.
Is it a scam? (it has all the Royal Mail logos etc, looks like an official site/text)

It’s a scam don’t click any links and delete it. They’re just randomly sent.

TheLostDiadem · 01/03/2021 15:22

Can you access the link via the Royal Mail website or are you just following a link directly?

brokengate · 01/03/2021 15:22

Yes as pp said it's a scam. They had something on FB warning people about this. Some got emails, some got texts.

Yes, it's a well known scam. There's an identical DPD one too.

BuffaloMozzarella · 01/03/2021 15:24

Scam. I nearly fell for the DPD version!

gamerchick · 01/03/2021 15:25

It's a scam. It seems quite benign but once you entered your details you get a phone call from your 'bank' saying your accounts been compromised and your money needs to be transferred to a safe account.

Never click on the shit thats sent to you in either email or text.

PurpleFadesToGreen · 01/03/2021 15:42

I had the email version.

It had a tracking number so I c&p the number on to the proper rm site to double check.

Rillington · 01/03/2021 16:37

Scam.

steppemum · 01/03/2021 18:06

Thanks all. Will delete it.
I must say the page is spot on copyof Royal Mail. Very deceptive.

I had the same supposedly from DPD in the run up to Christmas. I had quite a few parcels due and wasn’t sure what courier they’d be coming with.

The tracking number on the email didn’t link to anything on the DPD website. Then I twigged that it was a scam.

Please report the emails to [email protected]

There is an Amazon one going round atm. Saying they can.t complete your order so can you please give them your bank details/credit card again. Hmm

GVmama · 01/03/2021 19:14

Yes I was warned about this by our postie a few weeks ago, I’d had a text but deleted it because it mentioned Amazon and I don’t use Amazon but it was otherwise very convincing.

TheRogueApostrophe · 01/03/2021 19:50

Whenever I've had post that requires payment is had a card through the door and have had to collect it myself. Never had a text. These scams are awful.
